'08 and '09 got bumped up again to 295hp iirc

Then whats the point in gettin the 5.3 with 290 hp other than the DOD that no one seems to like LOL
Only reason for me would be to make it easier to swap with the 6.0 or other desirable LS engine parts lol and the V8 rumble

Ok im wrong I looked it up again and it was 291hp till the end. Im guessing i'm around the 295hp area due to my current exhaust mods.

Don't know if the 5.3 hp changed through the years but, mine is 303 hp 330 ft lbs. The DOD or now AFM actually works flawlessly and only becomes a problem if you want aftermarket exhaust goodies, because nothing is made for it, popular belief says that they sound like rice burners in 4 cylinder mode with anything other than the acoustic engineered OEM system...Mike.

I was going to reply with this lol, the 5.3 is 303 / 330. HP is actually pretty damn close to the last few years of the I6 but the torque is quite a bit higher. The new Gen V motors with Direct Injection are even better! 350 / 383 in the Silverado! The Corvette LS3 is ~425 hp and tq for manual and a little lower for auto, the new LT1's are supposed to be in the 450 range.

I painted my wheels with a gold metalic spray paint and primer in one. Got it from Wal mart. Only needed two cans for all four, and just did the card trick to avoid overspray on the tires.

changed out the door mode actuator. After 2 years of clicking(but still working fine)...it finally got on my last nerve.

sounds like mine. Clicks a few rapid times at startup and sometimes when changing modes but still works otherwise. Which one did you replace?

New brake backing plates came today. The pair was $20 from Amazon made by Dorman. They have a powder coat and are lifetime warrantied free of rust-out. Gonna put them on along with new rear pads.

This is the one I bought...ACDelco 15-73596
#1 in the photo. I had a harder time positioning myself comfortably to get to it than actually replacing it. Doing my moms today...i'll take a few pictures

flushed the brake fluid and greased up the front links and tie rod ends while I had the tires off.

noticed the tires are cracking between the tread, probably time for a new set.

plenty of tread left, but they were made in week 10 of 2008. so well over five years old.

they do sing a little from the scalloped edges the old struts put into them.

picsssssss!!!!!!!

Pics are coming as soon as I get done!! I cannot get the old starts apart! And in the rear I can't get the driver side link out! Annoying!! My wheels turned out so so... I love them black, just didn't dip them well, but for $25 you can't beat a wheel color change!

Did the the struts today, took some beating but they finally came off. As for the driver side end link, I cut mine off with a sawzaw. Then some grinding.

I worked on getting the lift installed as well as replaceing ball joints, tie rod ends, end links and flipping the UCA's. At this point I have given up on putting the prothane bushings in for now, think I will order new lower mount plates and new UCA's when I have the extra money and just swap out the bushings and swap them in later. I need my truck back. The lower ball joints are the biggest PITA I have ever dealt with.

Yesterday I put my stock airbox and filter assembly back on. I had too much blowback it was soiling my filters too fast, and leaving the inside of my aluminum tubing wet with oil. Figured with the stock stuff, it will get stuck in the resonator piece. Plus, my gas mileage has been going down slowly, but noticeably, and thought I would start there to figure out what is going on.

Paid my money for my GMT Nation T-shirt! Excited to get it when it's ready!

Today: Trying to get some web projects underway so I can get some cash to put towards a body lift kit...

Finished installing the lift today, as well as replaced all of the suspension components. Let's just say it took some persuasion to a few parts, other cooperated. I will detail it in my build thread. For the most part I'm very happy, still getting used to the different feeling, and I can tell its higher.

With s user name like that I would be required to join a "420" forum. :rotfl: Not my cup of tea. Blazinlow does not have the same portrayal after a lift.

Thanks guys, I really need to get a cheap garage camera so I can take pics as I go. Then again I was to frustrated and would have forgotten.

Truck is done!! Not without trouble though! Grinder and sawzall were my best friend!! Had to cut front links out. Tony built my setup perfect!! It was exactly what I wanted! It rides better than stock! My first attempt with plasti went so so, but I just wanted to see if the dark wheel was what I wanted! I love the way it looks now! Heading to the Heritage 2k13 to show it off next weekend!! View attachment 30390

I think they're just stock 20"s because i remember he had the chevy logos on them

But it looks sweet, love the storm troopered look

Wait until the springs work themselves in a bit and it'll look great. But now you need to get rid of the amber on the headlights/possibly paint them color matched or black to match your rims

:iagree: IMO Black headlight housings would be the way to go. Some tint on the tails would look good also.

Something will be done with the amber! Not sure about black headlights, the wheels won't stay black, just wanted to use plastic, and black is all I could find locally... I like different things. I know everything I've done so far is normal, but its a good base for me to start doing some different stuff!

Once you go black you ll never go back. I pd'd my wheels as soon as I got my ss. I liked it so much I went permanent with duplicolor wheel paint.
