thx bro... doing it right the first time would've saved them at least $10,000... labor alone on all 4 motors topped over $8,000.. now add the cost of the reman'd motors and the crate motor... someone's probably losing their job :rotfl:

for now she stays... but any hiccup or lengthy stays at the dealer, shes gone... my brother is actually trying to talk me into getting a motorcycle.. he just bought a Harley Sportster, and my father has an Aero Shadow.. so they want me to join the family and go ridin... time will tell how things go... if I keep her, she will get turned into the trailer queen that I've always dreamed of, if she goes, well then I have some thinking to do lol...

Love bikes, my cousin just bought a 2013 bmw s1000rr straight from the plant in germany and its meeaaan.

But 1 major thing you have to consider..... RAIN! :rotfl:

He owns the 4.8L X5 too so he got the best of both worlds i guess lol

Çongrats on finally getting your truck back right. No wonder Gm is having trouble if it takes over a year to fix a motor problem. They should go back in house for the rebuilds or at least to a real company that knows how to rebuild a motor. They had to lose money changing your motor every few months . Do it right once works the best.

I think the first mess wasn't direct thru GM tho. It was that whatever subsidiary company. This one is a GM that's why it is a brand new not reman I think. I'm sure Juan will correct me if I'm wrong, I can't always keep this stuff straight

you are correct Jarrod... I did have a genuine GM Performance Parts bumper to bumper extended warranty, however, GM parted ways with GMPP about 5 years ago (or so GM told me)... GMPP then in turn, outsourced all of my motors to a company called Dahmer Performance... once I went to a different dealership, and had so many people calling GM and GMPP, GM finally stepped up and granted me the Crate motor...

Dang. Do you guys have any gas rewards programs in MI. Down here at Ingles I can get $.10 off a gallon, which helps alittle.

The grocery store I shop at offers .10 off per gallon for every $100 you spend over a 6 week period. I think the most we have seen was .50 off per gallon which helps. The only down side is that it is 30 gal max.

drove to work after replacing some R134a last night ( by pressure using a two guage set) temps in high 90s today, perfect day to verify that my rebuilt AC clutch replacement took care of my hot temp AC cutout.

also did some research and calculated the global warming potential of a 12 oz can of 134a at the same as 55 gallons of 87 octane 10% ethanol regular unleaded gas.

H7? I thought those used H1.

I noticed yesterday that my AC was puffing hot air at first startup. Cooler, then warm, then cool again. Repeated a few times then finally cooled down fully. Didn't do it today. Not sure what caused that but I hope it isn't a sign my AC is about to fail

weather cleared up this afternoon, so I took the beaSSt on a joyride to put some miles on her... I also found out that the dealership washed and detailed my truck :hissyfit::hissyfit: especially after I told them not to since they scratched it before... sooo... I washed her up and waxed her to get rid of the damn swirl marks the dealer left after drying her off...

put a whapping 38 miles on her lol

I did some mild off roading just to see how the new transmission and transfer case work together. It kept getting stuck in 4WD and Service 4WD light kept coming on. I would have to shut the engine off then turn back on for it to be able to shift. So I shut it down in A4WD on pavement, then started it up an hour later, and there was obvious driveline binding. So I'm thinking the actuator in the front diff is sticking or something.

At first I got them from a member on tbssowners.. but really anyone can make them.. after the first ones got ruined (my fault) I went to a local guy and had him cut me out some...

First stripe is 2" wide, then there's a 1" gap, then the 2nd stripe is 2.5" wide.. and I had him make it 2' long... its just a straight strip and then you angle them to your liking...

The Pitman arm on the Chevy trucks might be the biggest PITA job I've ever done on anything. Where do you want the main shaft of the steering box to point, to make it really easy to work on? That's right, 3" away, directly at the front IFS crossmember that's welded in, and right behind the anti-roll bar. You're supposed to remove the steering box from the vehicle to do this job, but that would mean bleeding lines and having to find some place to get like 300ft/lbs on the nut. Got the nut off with a pipe wrench and a 3ft cheater bar, unbolted the box and moved it to a different hole (put the lower mounting ear in the top mounting hole), cut the pitman arm off with a die grinder when my pitman arm puller broke, while pulling on it with a universal disconnect tool, used an impact to get the new arm most of the way on, re-mounted it its home, and put the last turn and a half on it with the same pipe wrench and 3ft cheater bar.

Idler arm mount, idler arm, pitman arm, and steering damper took me 8 hours to do.

The fuel pump I did in the morning took me a little over an hour, because of being able to just jack up the bed and not move the tank.

First time I've done this @135k. Got a nice smoke show for about 30 seconds after waiting 20 minutes after introduction! Nothing freakish...but enough to fill the drive way and even lasted down the road and out of the hood. Neighbors probably though my vehicle was powered by a wood stove given the white trail!

Did as suggested...gently removed the brake boster line by prying and pulling gently side to side and back with pliers.....pops right off with a slight release of vacuum sound. Let if suck the seafoam out of a cut off water bottle and sit for 20 minutes or so. Didn't do either fuel line (had just BG 44k a month back)...nor oil as it was not due to be changed. Will add the other half can (16oz can)...to oil before next change.

I have cleaned the TB regularly.....real easy maintenance for those who are inclinded. Seems like some of the slight stutter/hesistation has cleared.

:helpme: sorry to hear about your luck with this sounds like a bitch of a job Mike, glad when I changed the jeep it wasn't that bad. I did almost lose a finger or two when the pitman arm finally let loose. Took a pitman arm puller and the good ol BFH:mad:
