I have not yet opened up my new Jasper transmission, but the torque converter locks up very quick and acceleration comes much quicker than stock. And I still haven't broken 4k rpm's yet.

Drove to work tonight and could not tell a huge difference between the 3K and 4300K in the fogs. My 4300K were definitely brighter though. I will have to drive on a night when it raining out to see if they light up the road better. If not, 4300K will be going back in.

I have been trying to learn wth all these new electrical terms are and if my understanding is correct the 3K's should shoot the light farther and the 4300K should be brighter up close. ?

Any chance you drove or can drive a super dark road after being out of the lights? just curious if you can notice on the super dark stretches...

I dont know if this helps but it'll give you a brief understanding
But i know 3000K is really good in rain and snow because you can see the yellow reflect off things which is why the rally cars have tinted yellow lenses
Compared to 4300-6000k which is white/whitish blue which looks brighter at night but is blinding when reflected off snow and rain

In the pic the yellow one is 3000k and you can see the other numbers

Theres also 8000k and 10,000k which are illegal because they're blue and purple and are very distracting to other drivers

4300K HIDs are rated with the highest usuable lumens at 3200. The higher you go up on the Kelvin scale, the less usuable lumens an HID bulb will produce. 3000k HIDs bulbs are typically used in fog light applications and the yellow output is supposed to enhance visibility in snow, rain, and foggy conditions. Usuable lumens for 3000K HIDs is around 3200 as well.

Since 4300K is closer to natural light, I think my eyes see it as being brighter than compared to the 3000K. I do drive down a couple dark country roads before I get on the interstate to come to work. Other than yellow light on the road in front of the TB and off to the side, I did not see much difference. I am also using 4300K headlights in a projector which I am sure over powers the yellow.

I know when I am driving at night when it is raining, my 4300K light output seems to be absorbed into the wet asphalt. I am hoping that the 3000K in the fogs will provide more lumens on the road during bad weather. If I had a projector lens in my foglight then it would emit a stronger beam and would show up further down the road, but in the stock housing it only shows up infront and to the side of my TB.

Thanks for the concern guys, and yea I'm just glad I caught it before some serious damage happened.

dmann my Morimoto 6k's are literally blinding from both my lows and fogs when you're standing in front of my truck. I've tried to aim the headlights down, and I try to remember not to turn the fogs on while driving since they aim up higher. Most of my friends pretty much refuse to drive in front of me, it's that bad >.> brightest HID's I've ever seen. If the 4300's produce more light, I can only imagine how they are.

Thanks guys for reinforcing what I read. Appreciate it!

As a snow guy, I have always lived by adjusting the colors used for vison (goggles) in inclement weather. To be honest I never thought about changing or adding lights that did not directly have a positive affect on light output in adverse conditions. Maybe when the mod bug finally kicks in.

Yellow is a great light to use to see the layout of the terrain in low light conditions. still trying to figure out how it works in my SUV doing more than 15mph in my fogs. With the rally applications they are pumping a lot of watts for high beam out put that can singe hair.

Dangit. now I have added another thing to research the heck out of that will consume my time like an evil drug.

My 3k fogs are bright enough that I can drive around even on the highway with only those on and I can see perfectly fine. I also replaced my fog light lenses when I put them in, but the biggest difference will be in inclimate weather, rain and snow especially.

I am tempted to retrofit my fog lights with the Morimoto Matchbox projects which are designed for foglight retros.

The first signs of being tuned. Enjoyed a 17+ mpg commute home over 20 miles, parking lot to driveway. I usually get between low 14s to upper 15s depending on traffic lights and AC usage. :wootwoot:

Now just have to see how consistent that number is gonna be.

Yup that's the one. I hope you can get alignment within spec or you're going to need the DJM UCA's.

Yep I have been talking with tony I'm probably going to hold off on install and grab the a arms in 2 weeks then slam it.

If that's the case, don't even bother with the spacers. For the record my front setup is will be the exactly the same as what you're putting in, but with the lower strut mount, and I had my A Arms rewelded to fix the camber. Roughly 5" total. With the struts and no spacers it should sit real pretty.

I put the 8mm in ..have tonys uppers..deflated bags and lowering shocks in rear. The only thing is hitting any bumps going over 40 isnt exactly fun. I am sitting around 30.5 from ground to fenderlip on stock size tires. U might hafta cut out some of your fender up front to prevent rubbing issues when hitting bumps.

Mostly electrical day today. My scuff plate LEDs stopped working last weekend, turns out the tap in the headliner had pulled loose, so had to put that back. My front bumper has been loose, so I got a bag of push pins to go in the 4 holes underneath the center section. Will be going on a little test drive to see if that fixes the noises I've been hearing when going over bumps and rough road.

One of my friends noticed yesterday that my passenger side switchback wasn't functioning with the parking light. Had to get into the door and see what that was about. Turns out the wire bundle for the parking light, and 2 wires for the power folding mirror had pulled just loose enough to get caught on the window regulator when the window rolls all the way down. As a result the parking light wire had gotten cut. Grabbed a handy butt connector, stripped the insulation and band aided that.

Got my Proclips Note 2 hard wired charging dash mount on Friday, so decided to hook that up. It doesn't come fused, you have to do that yourself, so I got some push connectors and some wire, and soldered them onto the lead wires.

There's 2 connections on the output side of the power block, 1 for the intended device connection, and another for an auxiliary device. I couldn't find the aux connector on their website, and don't really NEED it, but it's cool, and I WANT it!! :hissyfit:

20130714_112211_zpse9df9c63.jpg

I tapped the power into the constant 12V for the rear windshield wiper. This way I didn't have to take out the radio and HVAC module to get down to the power port guts. Since it's pulling less than 2A, didn't think that would be a big deal. Decided to put the power block down behind the radio stack carpet panel, just in case I need quick and easy access to it.

Got the device mount screwed into the dash mount, just gotta get me a couple 2A mini fuses and I'm good to go!

Ordered the Redline Tuning quick lift hood struts last night for the TB. As much as I have the hood up, I am sure these will come in handy.

Yeah after I seen your post, I had to move them to the top of my ever growing mod list. Just had to wait for the funds from all of my overtime I have been working. I am hoping they will be here in the next couple days. That will give me time to run to Lowes and pick up a riveter. I believe that is the only tool I do not have that is needed for the install.

I always heard that it HAS to be "cheese curds" and anything else is an abomination. For the most part the only way to get fries down here is either with cheese or chili haha.

And here's the link for the hood struts.

Redline Tuning Chevy Trail Blazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Ranier, Olds Bravada and Isuzu Ascender QuickLIFT System - Lifts and holds your hood without prop rod.

I bought the Plus ones because the mounting plates and rivets were powder coated black. And yea dmann you should only need a drill and a riveter.

I have the DeWalt drill and drill bits, just need to pick up the riveter.

Ryda there is a $20 difference between the zinc and black powder coated hardware. I believe the company is out of Michigan so shipping should not be too bad for you. Looks like $28 for shipping to Canada and about $98 total for the whole kit. Thats if you go with the basic model.
