I know I am commenting about a discussion 3 pages ago but.....

Everyone makes fun of my when I pull out the pickle fork and hammer, because they are my two favorite tools, but they work really well on removing the windshield wiper arms.

To stay on topic, I didn't do anything on my truck today because it is still sitting broken in the driveway. I have found an SS rear axle that I will be picking up as soon as tax money is deposited. At least then it should be drive-able in 2 wheel drive.

What kind of mileage have you gotten out of the forteras? I've been extremely happy with my Firestone Destination ATs. Good traction and excellent wear. 55k miles and counting on a 50k rated tire, still with 5/32 tread left

I've only had it a year and it has 65k on it,but, I think two were replaced because they are mounted with the texture in.I can get the summer out of them but, I would like to hit the winter with new shoes. They are probably 50-60K tires...Mike.

Thanks! My cup holders are always full so that wouldn't work. I thought about just clipping it to the visor but some of the roads I travel on will require a helmet had I put it there lol. I will be using it as my main radio at home(working on tower and base station) and a secondary mobile unit to my Icom....which I still have yet to figure out. I'm hoping Mat will take his test so I can pawn it off on him lol. I LOVE my wouxun though!!!

No the clip to the visor does not work very well. I have a nice little arsenal of radios thanks to events that I support.

Looks really good. First, I would've had the wheels re-balanced and had them use stick on weights, before I did it. The next time you do have them rebalanced, you'll need to do some touch up work. Second, consider the possiblity of trimming the inner lip, and peeling that off. Makes the rims really "pop". That's only a suggestion, though. Nice work. I really like the emblems, too.

Trying to decide if I want to make a small mount for my new handheld ham radio....as of now the mobile unit is mounted to the top of my dash, but I don't want to always have my handheld on my belt/pants.

Anyone have a small mount for a handheld radio in their trucks?

It's a Wouxun....

Have you looked into a ProClip?

Base mount

Then add this

Did both front wheel hubs. Nooo moorree drone again I will thank everyone here for giving be the confidence to do this easy job. Yes now I call it easy haha

Some pics before. View attachment 27110

The hardest part of this job for me was the damn abs sensor wire. All together both sides I'd say spent a good 35-40 minutes somehow wrestling the wire and clips out don't ask why so complicated for me but was hardest part of the job

Today, I inspected/ lubed the sway links. One of the end links' rubber cap was no longer whole. I wonder if Moog sells replacements. I also discovered a little oily mess above/around the oil filter, which requires future investigation. All in all a good day.

You can get new tie rod boots from Autozone in their help section, and they would probably have one that fits the sway end link.

I scraped all the purple decals and Tinker Bells off of the Bravada. It is officially my daily driver now so it is time to de-feminize it. :wootwoot:

I started working on a little project and idea I've had for awhile. GM is so cheap. Not only is the metal on the body of these things absurdly thin, so is the insulation or lack there off. Plus all the wasted space on the sides of the rear hatch. It's just empty plastic.

So I removed the rear lower pieces which I'm going to cut at angles after the seatbelt. I plan to build two storage boxes on both sides of the wall and use some of that interior space for a few hidden compartments that are larger than the crappy ones of plastic GM provided us with.

Spent about an hour and half at the DMV because I needed to know how to register the voy to legally tow a trailer, among a few other things. Seems basic but VA will give you a registration with the EW and GVWR but you need to have the GCWR (Gross Combined) weight added to the registration.

They generally go by what you are tagged for over the door stickers. Either way, I don't need a 4-5K overweight ticket either. So I went just slightly over but should be good. I could use both the trailer GVWR and Envoy GVWR registrations but that can backfire if it's not on the tow vehicles registration. Doesn't cost anything extra, and I don't need truck tags.

Just food for thought if you may have rules like this.

Interesting. I didn't even think about finding a generic replacement. Guess where I'm heade

I also measured the ride height to get an idea if my springs were sagging. (I've felt that in the six years I've owned the vehicle, it seems lower). However, the front fender edges measured 32.5" at the center of the wheel, and a hair over 34" on the rear. Wheels are stock 16's and tires are stock size. Based on searches of both sites, this seems normal.

Lots of stuff. I replaced my power steering pump that started to fail about 6 weeks ago. Couldnt resist some donuts in the snow and paid the price. Also replaced the CPAS as insurance since i was in there. Installed a power steering filter on the return line. I plan on staying more on top of maintaining the PS system after today. Replaced the serp belt with a gatorback. Changed the oil. Installed my switchbacks and load resistors. I will post pics in the LED thread. Now I'm pooped and it's beer thirty.

what are you going to cover the IC and piping with? or you're just going to leave it all exposed?

Im going to leave it exposed down below and up top. I am going to put a heat shield in up top to seperate the turbo and wastegates from the engine + coolant res. theres about 4 inches of clearance on everything from the hood and there should be plenty of air flowing through because of the fog lights and corner lights being deleted.

tapped a hole in the sunroof track and ran a screw into the plastic velcro clip.

Fixed some sagging seals on the bottom of the rear doors, then enjoyed the rest of the day.
