Being 27 deg outside, I let the carwash remove all the road salt.

For getting done at a carwash it looks pretty good! I usually seem to end up with missed patches when I go to the carwash :hissyfit:

Shook out the Silverado's floor mats. Wanted to vacuum the Voy or Silverado but wife and I spent most of Saturday cleaning the house and it snowed last night throwing today's schedule off.

Dropped mine off at Carmax today to get some work done before my warranty runs out in May after seeing this...

I'm getting new tie rods, upper and lower ball joints, an alignment, and a new rear washer pump under warranty, minus my deductible. They say I need 4 new tires, but at $600+, I will shop around. I might go up a bit in diameter. Wish I could afford a suspension lift, would be the perfect time to put bigger tires on :quiverlips:

They said they won't get it all done until tomorrow, so in the meantime I'll be rolling around the bay area in this... It's more sluggish off the line than my EXT is :weird: but after it hits about 2500rpm, it takes off like you'd expect. It's got that auto-stick feature, so I'm having a bit of fun with that.

By the way this closet homosexual was reving his badass v6 Jeep at the light  God spared a Chrysler man that day.

But now

nah, you don't want that. its a 4l80 tc with modified mounts for a stock flexplate (without having to swap it out and use a crank extension)

you want this... yank ptb3200...

Washed her off (just a tad salty)

spliced a new headlight socket one day last week. (solder and heat shrink tube) I staggered the joints. sorry no photos, it was getting dark. I considered using a crimp, but there was a fairly large difference in wire diameter. twist and solder seemed the safer route.

Drove it like I was my first time taking it off the lot. Here's the grocery list:

  • Front end links
  • Upper ball joints
  • Lower ball joints
  • Upper control arms
  • Rear end links
  • 4 new tires (265/65/17)
  • Oil change
  • Rear washer pump

The ride is butter smooth, handling is tight, and I'm not just saying that because I was stuck in a Jetta the past 2 days  Since I squeezed in the door just before 6 when the place was dead, all the guys came out and were asking me about the LEDs, and power folding mirrors. You know that made me

Washed it today. It was getting dark as I finished so no pics of it. Forgot to post a pic of my new footwell lights this weekend so here they are with and without flash.

Yes, yes I do. I actually used your truck as a reference in deciding what size to get, so thanks for that. I was losing light, so snapped these real quick before heading home. Couldn't fit a finger between the tire and UBJ

After boosting myself about 7 times from last week to now. I ran some tests to see what the problem was.

Car running 14.64V
Checked for parasitic draw - none
battery voltage after a boost 12.64V

Left the battery cable off last night came back this morning and measured voltage - 12.49V

Car did turn over so I went to partsource and the guy brought out his machine and tested the battery, he punched in 650 as the CCA, but is rated at 800 CCA

Got only 417 CCA

E7CD4D27-orig_zpseaa4526b.jpg

The oem battery lasted 69 months and was a 6 year battery, not bad. Decided to get the 78 month/7 year battery from the dealer figuring I got good service out of the original battery but only lasted 52 months - disappointing

Picked up a diehard gold dual post battery from active green, its a 778DT series 7000 with 850 CCA, has a 3 yr no questions asked warranty.

Will see how it goes.

Question: should I keep my old battery and use it in parallel with the new one, I got the top posts, any benefit?

Thanks

what would you do, bungie cord it to the front bumper?

didn't they give you a core refund for the old one? let em recycle it and make a new one.

After some research online, its not a good idea to mix and good with a bad.

I will swap and return the old for for a $10 refund

If I had to do 2 batteries, I wouldnt hang it off the front bumper. Run 2 wires through the firewall, under the panels and mount the battery somewhere whether behind the front seats or in the trunk.

My front brakes have been pulsing a little bit so I went to Autozone and got my front rotors replaced under warranty. Had them installed with the wheel hubs yesterday. Drives like a new truck...!

nice catch can... is that just a basic ebay type $40-$50 one, or is that another type... been lookin at them for quite some time now... just havent pulled the trigger on that, or anything else for that matter until i make up my mind on what im gonna do with her lol...

as for what i did today... i just started her up and let her warm up... i can tell im going to need a new battery this summer... shes cranking really slow and can no longer start with the tap start feature, i have to hold the key and crank like back in the days of old

haha thanks yeah its just your generic ebay catch. I can't see dropping $100+ on a name brand when these do just as well. I know I will need one for sure especially with the turbo. I figured I would get this now so its one less thing I need to do when I swap in the 06 PCM/ Injectors/06 wiring harness in a few weeks.
