I would leave the 'dip on to protect from salt.

Today's adventure was a simple task. 8000+ miles and down to 23% on the OLM told me it was time for an oil change. I also pulled the spare tire hoist and found that it was trashed. I replaced the rear climate controls and got them workin again.

The last few weeks have not been as easy. We just got the TB back from the tranny shop after a replacement (at least it was covered under the warranty we got with the car). Nice thing is it runs and drives great now.

Today I installed a recycled head unit in the 'Hoe. It came out of my '96 Impala before I traded it in. There were some mods I had to do, which I'll write up in a different thread.

(And yes, I know I need to find a trim piece to put around it)

Drove to buffalo today, heading there wasnt bad

Coming back, ran into trouble

As I was driving along, I noticed a funny smell, figured it was the air outside.

5 mins later I look back and see smoke from right behind the passenger seat. Pulled over, called fire, I started dumping snow on the inside. Cops showed up, told them what happened. Fire takes a look.

I knew the muffler was cracked and the exhaust gases wasnt exiting out the rear as they should, instead rising up.

Cop says you cant drive, I wasnt going to take the risk. He says if you know a tow truck, said nope, he calls somebody local

Had to get towed from Hamilton to Mississauga. $150 flatbed + $3 a kilometer

Nice 350 bill

Now I got to pull the carpet and check the damage, hopefully the heat didnt cause a hole in the body.

Plus a new muffler

:frown:

After a little more searching, I found the one that came with it.

Sorry, no more pictures until I get the whole build thread together.

Nothing done to the TB itself today but managed to get a couple vids of the new exhaust uploaded online so everyone can hear how it sounds with the new muffler and resonator delete.

Replaced front sway bar bushings with Raybestos ones, and Front and Rear end-links with Deezas. At 108K miles it was a PITA trying to get the stock end-links out. On my first attempt at getting an end link out I stripped the allen key right away and had to revert to the reciprocating saw. Learned my lesson on the other three and grinded off the rusted threads with a dremel in addition to the obligatory soak with lubricant. Have a couple of Mevotech upper ball joints to install hopefully by next weekend. All parts courtesy of RockAuto.

still need dipstick/tube, shift cable bracket, trans fluid -6 fittings (trans guys told me they are the same as the 4l60/70... WRONG) and... oh yeah a driveshaft / 32 spline yoke... debating just getting a new one built, idk...

also have to pull out my front axles... and the stock cooler lines (not going to be fun...)
