I'm still getting used to 7 lolMounce said:Surfing the Nation via our new laptop that came in today. There's a big, confusing difference between Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
Lol yeah I still figure out new things on it when I play around with it.Darkrider_LS said:I'm still getting used to 7 lol
The irony of this. On the one hand, the employees (and the owner) want the holiday. On the other, they could have raked in enough to give everyone double-pay for the day, run just one small shift, and still come out just as profitable if not more than an "average" day.Denali n DOO said:Made it to the beer store before it closed. HP G70, I think it's from the Pavillion line. Have had it for a little over 5 years now. So it's ancient.djthumper said:What kind of laptop are you working on?

So an over sized calculator... I have never been a big fan of HP computers.Blckshdw said:Yeah, it's been hobbling along for a while now, been itching for an excuse to get off this dual core for a hot minute. Was gonna put an SSD in it, but all the other hardware in it wouldn't take good advantage of it. HDMI doesn't output sound anymore, and one of the USB ports is dead.

If you decide you really can't stand the Windows 8 interface, you can get this which makes it run mostly like 7. Just be sure to uncheck the several boxes that are wanting to install extra "helpful" junk.Blckshdw said:Ended up ordering a refurbed laptop last night, everything available had Windows 8 on it, so I guess I'll be taking a crash course on that.
Always a good plan!HARDTRAILZ said:Appreciate! Got a babysitter tonight so we can actually have a nice quiet dinner out
Upgrade to 8.1 right awayBlckshdw said:They usually end up being the cheapest option with the features I want at the time. Mainly gets used at work (I have a PC there as well) when I travel (which I don't do much of anymore), and for guests when they come visit, so it doesn't need to be too fancy. Basic options will get the job done.
For shits and giggles, I took the broken bezel mounts and used them to secure the hinges to the screen brackets anyway. So at least it can function in 1 place for a little while longer.
Just can't open/close the lid, you can see here how little support the screen has. This is the point that broke before, when the front and rear bezels were connected to give it rigidity. With a little force, this part started to cave and bend with ease.

Looks like it has 8.1 64 bit. I take it there were some good sized headaches with 8.0? Typical MS OS issues...djthumper said:Upgrade to 8.1 right away
Thanks for that, good call. I remember hearing a lot of people grumble about losing the start menu when they got on Windows 8. I'm sure I'd be no different at first.Sparky said:If you decide you really can't stand the Windows 8 interface, you can get this which makes it run mostly like 7.
