Place of purchase shouldn't matter..it's Dremel brand so it will be the same no matter where you get it.

Btw, Dave and Carlton, why would I need a Dremel? Headlights should bake open fine and shouldn't need to cut shrouds since they're so small.

(reason I think that they'll bake open fine: side marker housings are the same brand and they baked themselves open during the summer on the car, couldn't figure out how so much moisture was getting in and turned out that the lenses were halfway unsealed. They have some kind of white glue on them as sealant. )

I wouldn't be so sure bro, Wal-Mart is pretty well know for getting sub par products from manufacturers to save money. They tell the company what they will pay and the company does what they can to meet the criteria. Even know national brands will run special production just for walmart like P&G for example. Ammunition is another that is sub par quality from walmart.

So it is quite possible that a dremel from walmart although the same brand may be of lower quality than say home depot. :undecided:

Very true.. A buddy bought a pioneer CD player from Wal-Mart.. And it wasn't even listed on pioneer's website. If you googled the model number it was only for Wal-Mart.. So yeah I do believe that Wal-Mart products while usually cheaper are sub par and made just for walmart.

I try to buy from home improvement store when possible. Just feel I get a better product.

You always can use a good dremel

Are the headlight OE or aftermarket? If OE, they are most likely permasealed which will require cutting.

Aftermarket. Spec-d brand IIRC.

-OE 94-98 Mustang lights have a faceted lense that isn't exactly transparent lol. Would be a waste to retrofit them.

After market should be ok. I know on HIDP they have an on going thread where members list the type of headlight brand, model vehicle, and the type of of sealant used whether permasealed, butyl, etc.

I would start with 200*F for 10-15 min and go from there. I ended up baking the fog lights at 250*F to get them open.

Yeah, I saw that thread but didn't really look at it. I just read enough of them to get an idea of how they had it layed out. I doubt that Mustang will be on there though since the only info I've been able to find is on random Mustang forums.

Looks like a good reason for one of their newest members to make a contribution to me. You can fill in this gap :deal:

1999-2004 Mustang
aftermarket headlamps: butyl
OEM: Permaseal
2005-2009 Mustang
OEM: Permaseal
2010+ Mustang
OEM: Permaseal

Probably not. 200*F is a good temperature to start at and then go from there.
Thanks for the info brotha

Oh, you want the 94-98 report? NO..!

:rotfl:

Jk I just find it ridiculous that no where (that I've seen) has good info on retrofitting the 94-98 headlights. I should go post on multiple Mustang forums when I'm done and give them all the retrofit bug.

I am sure it has been done before. I seen a thread on HIDP where a guy did a retro on his 1965 stang.

It's been done..just not by a lot of people and they didn't even come close to explaining anything well lol. I can find a lot for other year models but not the 94-98 base/cobra models. The gt models have a different headlight.

Idk about a how-to but pics will come fo' sho'.

All I'm worried about with it is that I'll hit an unforseen roadblock and get stuck on it. But then again, it should be 5 times easier to do than the huge TB headlights and I've planned everything so that I shouldn't have to cut anything so it should go pretty easy.

Planning helps. Some things you do not think about until you get into it. I have had the same issue with the fog retro. Buying hardware, paint, etc.

I just had to buy 25ft of 24awg wire so I can wire up the solenoid for hi beams in the fogs.

Albeit little planning, I planned lol. Not much to mounting the MH1's. Biggest issue that could pop up would be needing to cut the shrouds.

-and I already have all of the wiring in place including wires for the solenoids that are built into the wiring harness. They were used with my bi-xenon bulbs that I ditched for low beam only.

This has happened to me on all 3 retros I've tried so far :bonk: Just have to keep an open mind to alternatives, and keep it moving. (or keep your s#it simple, unlike me )

:goodpost: You have no idea how much random hardware has been added to my parts collection from this retro. Trying to make brackets, and then fitting them into the bowls, then making sure the bulb access works OK with the back of the housing was a royal pain.

Soo.... guys, I think I need help.

As many know I'm planning on getting a replacement TB this year. Well... I'm already thinking about mods for it. This is bad, right? Dreaming of mods for a vehicle I don't even own yet? :lipsrsealed:

I do it daily. Built so many sweet rigs in my head that my truck seems dull at times.

I want another trans am to mod...

I'm hoping that the seats that just arrived for the Camaro satisfy the mod bug for the Camaro for a short time. The biggest mod I want for that car is expensive (new hood, spoiler, roof panel, and paint job, ouch!) so that has to wait a while.

I have a bunch of ideas for the next truck but not sure which ones make sense given how I use it as "mall rated" - I don't trust myself off road as if I really damaged something it is my main vehicle and I don't have a lot of money to throw at it. Maybe minor, low risk off roading, but then I don't have anyone around here to go with, so....

I prolly should not have bought the ZJ...it is giving the mod bug fits today

Now that my mod bug has realized I ended some projects and figured out I still have that old Diesel just sitting...it has been constantly tossing together ideas lol

Example of this..."hey bro.....you know you got all those parts stockpiled.....time to start modding shit!"

Feed it some fuel. diesel rolling coal asap!

Watch for exploding Ujoints. That line is the root cause of most U-joint failures and a magnet for shrapnel

Hopefully doing some modding in the garage this weekend. Suppose to be in the mid 40's. Planning on test fitting the fogs and doing some additional dremeling. If they fitment and alignment is good then its off to paint on the outside of the reflector bowl. Reassemble, check fitment/alignment again, and then start sealing these bad boys up.

I finally received my 24awg wire in the mail so I can wire up the solenoid in the projector to the hi beams. I will have a real 6 hi mod with (4) bi-xenon projectors, and Crees in the hi beams.

Anyone else doing any modding?
