If you're REALLY bored, you can download the wiring diagrams from Mooseman's thread for research. :book:

Inevitably, as you scroll through looking for your main objective, your eye will scan over something causing more ideas and questions to pop in your head. Endless fun I tell ya, endless fun!
Haha yeah I have the manuals at home.. Just not on my phone.. Yet anyway..

I don't need to be looking over the diagrams for more ideas to pop into my head. Lol

Ideas pop into my head all the time, and I haven't turned out too bad. (anyone that states otherwise will be banned :satan:)

I'm currently pricing LT bumpers, and debating whether or not I would want to trust the Ebay sellers that offer to paint them if you give them your paint code. Granted, I don't have much storage space, so I'd have my old LS bumpers laying around...

If there was a market around here for LS bumpers, I'd be all over that. When Decembersend got his BartonMD bumper, he couldn't give away his stock one. :frown:

Face it, I need a house with a garage, then I could store all my takeoffs without issue, and get mods done until I passed out :Zzzz:

I am a self admitted pack rat, haven't reached hoarder status, but I tend to keep everything. As long as I keep stuff fairly organized, it doesn't take me too long to find it, especially the larger items. That bin organizer I bought last month has been pretty handy for my small hardware/electrical/LED stuff. Haven't gotten around to printing labels, which I really should do.

I am not sure where my stock bumpers are but I own them still. Barton has my rear bumper/hitch. Has for months since Regulator returned it, but I just figured it out. My dad needed tie-rods for his 2500 and I knew I had a set from when i was going to go that route and it took me 2 days to find them between the truck, my garage, my old det garage still housing my tools, and my 3 storage sheds. But i did!

Ok so I got some 3157CK leds ordered for the brake lights and rear turns. Looking at 3157s for up front now and can't decide if I should get amber or switchback or just plain white. Load Resistors will be ordered in the next day. Getting 4-6ohm 50watt resistors so use for each signal bulb.

So, on to the questions...

1) I don't have a pic, but which color wire to I add the load resistors to for the front and rear. I know in the rear I have five wires but haven't been there in a while so don't remember what colors are there. I tried looking on the PDF manual in the wiring section and most of that looks like gibberish to me  .

2) I found these and if you scroll down on their page it shows they are 1500 lumen per bulb? That sounds awfully high? I have a message to the seller so hopefully they will get back soon, but wanted to get your opinion. If they are per bulb then these things are only a few hundred lumen less then the HIDs I just bought (which I still haven't installed :duh: ).

Black is ground, blue is turn signal (dark blue on passenger side, light blue on driver side). Be aware there may also be a second light blue for the brake lights in the rear. Just compare left and right sides to determine which light blue wire is the brake and which is turn as the plugs are wired the same.

Those should be bright but not even close to 1500lm. And "30 watt" if they were truly 30 watt bulbs then they'd burn out in under a minute due to heat. Ebay sellers lie about all of that stuff, you just have to know what you're looking at and what it should do. Like, to me, those appear to be good LED chips and should be decently bright.

Ok thanks. That's why I'm glad you guys know what to look for. I really have no idea when it comes to this stuff. Just been reading as much as I can to help get a better idea.

What makes those appear to be good LED chips?

Do these look good iyo? Same seller btw.

As soon as I get my brake lights I'll take a gander. Thanks man

Those chips have optics built into them (they kinda have a bubble on them) and if you look at a high power LED flashlight and look at the chip, you'll see what I mean.

Your second link, those would be fine but give me a minute and I'll find you some for the same or less price with chips multiple times brighter.

Do you want switchbacks like the second link?

I know what you're talking about with the led flashlight for sure.

I was thinking switchbacks, so I can turn on my parking lights and use them as DRL sometimes to keep the HIDs from wearing too fast.

Thanks. Do you think the projector lens makes much of a difference? Do you think it would shoot more white, light that is, out in front with the projector lens or is it just for gimmicks?

Also, what's with all this new 3535 led chips, etc? I thought that 5630 or even 5730 was about as bright as you can get for these?

I'm not sure about the projectors..I know for my reverse lights the projector lenses do good, not so sure about my switchbacks though.

And besides the bubble-style chips, 5630 will be about as bright as you can get for small automotive bulbs. Next one down in brightness should be 5050, then 3528 I believe. Those numbers represent the measurements of the chips. I know 5050 is 5mm by 5mm. I assume that for 5630 is 5.6mm by 3mm in size.

So. Much. Want.
Throwing this out there for you retrofiting guys, I want them for my upcoming retrofit but don't have the funds.

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/closeouts/switchback-flexible-silicone-led-rope-light.html#.VLcpGCvF_dI

Btw, Dave, finally found a little info on mustang retrofits, saw some posts from a guy that retrofitted as a job and he was stuffing FX-R's in the little mustang housings, also had some with MH1. At least I know now that MH1 will fit fo' sho' and has been done before.

Btw, three years ago he was charging $675 for MH1's and $750 for FX-R's... That's frikken steeeeeep son!

The knock on those strips has been that the amber can sometimes be hard to see during the day when the sun is shining, depending on where they are mounted in the headlight due to that silicone cover. Some people love em, other people hate em.

I am surprised they were able to stuff a FX-R into a mustang housing. I seen that flexible silicone LED rope. Definitely sexy and looks much cleaner than the single LED chips. That will take some engineering to retro into the TB headlights.

I thought about getting some strips to put inside the Mustang headlights but then I saw the price (even on Ebay) and changed my mind lol.

Just standard chip-strips would be hard to mount in them but ropes would be perfect.

Dremel EZ-Lock cutoff wheels. Get some.
Agreed. Dremel 4000 is definitely to best kit for the money at $100. Comes with metal/plastic cutoff wheels, EZ-Lock spindle, extra spindles, sand sleeves, grinding stones, metal grinding wheel, polishing attachements, and also other attachments used with the Dremel. It also has the quick release chuck which is nice. It is also corded and is variable speed from 5k to 35k rpm.

I think I would like a Li-ion version if they make one. Cords can suck for on/in vehicle work.

My first thought would be to call it a Bra thread, not a jock strap thread.

Maybe it's just bc it was from Wal-Mart and of course Wal-Mart tools are not that great.. But I had to charge it once while I was cutting out the overhead console support when I was doing the conversion. So what should have taken a couple min. Ended up taking like 2 hrs at least..

Maybe if bought from somewhere else like a home depot or something maybe it would be better.. Idk
