no i didnt.. i took a calm approach...the way i look at it... when i pm someone, or tell them to email me to let them know about this great place, it means alot more from a veteran member with over 2000 posts contacting you, then someone with say 100 or fewer posts.. so they dont think im a spammer...

But that hasn't stopped us, now has it?

Muaahahahahahahaha

nor has it stopped me.. i still have a few tricks up my sleeve.. :undecided::lipsrsealed:

Hello Fishsticks it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

:rotfl:Yeah OK. I can only talk to myself anyway...

Quite of bit of that going on over there this weekend. Super-mods must be on vacation. The unanswered questions are echoing in the empty hallways. Its losing its entertainment value.

I'm on global ignore... it doesn't matter who's online, I can only talk to myself.

I've been thinking about copy pasting randomness from the internet into various threads just because I can.

Porn will work, but it's a little hard to find on the net.

Oh man, and then watch all the noobs become even more confused when page numbers are listed, and it takes them to the page before it since they can't see all the posts :dielaugh:

Well, not exactly. The Admin can still see your posts. (I'm not sure if the mods can, or not)

We know. The amount of misinformation and guessing being spouted as fact is appalling. I saw one today that claimed the reverse light switch was in the console near the shift lever instead of at the other end of the shift cable on the left side of the tranny.

No, I hadn't posted, was just looking and saw it. If I recall it was a MOD that said it. Out of all the resonator threads I've read in my short noob time I’ve never seen a reference to such.

We have about 8 members HERE that in seven weeks HERE have more posts than their more senior mod THERE has in three years. Technical chops don't seem to be what they promote mods for anymore. Blind, unquestioning loyalty must be highly valued now.

Hi there, how are you? Hope all is well. As we talked about before, no problems at all with you being on both sites but please refrain from telling members to email you about "the change". I've asked you before to let this site be and if you want to be here then you are more than welcome to. But what you are doing is still regarding an event that's been over a month old. We are just focused on the site and this site alone. Thank you.

Cheers

So you should respond that you are exercising free speech by telling people that you are now a part of this site just as you are a part of that site. If they want to control your free speech, it benefits our marketing stance.

Touché... BUT, I am sure most of the community is posting from the US...

Either way, if they try to control what people want to say, that won't end well. Look at the rules we had to enforce over there, and look where that got us... vendors hated us and members got yelled at for mentioned companies and linking to other sites... that is one of the major things we vowed to change here.

Acutally, we're all covered by some form of "freedom of speach" law...

Freedom of speech - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here in Canada, it's also in our "Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms" and in our "Human Rights Code".

Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This VS orrifice, being on Canadian soil, is fundamentally bound by our laws and statutes... Even within their private systems. The forum software copy may have been their property, but the members, ideas, and what we said, are not "property".

I'm pretty sure, if some legal beagle wanted to sift through Canadian Law (and all it's relevant sawdust), what they did and are still doing may be leaning on the illegal side of things. - We are protected from systematic, heavy-handed censorship up here too.

:twocents:

We just don't have a right to carry firearms. Probably just as well too.

Too many fruitcakes up here.

I was doing a little work on the company lap-top late last night and decided to check out the OS without logging in to wind down. OMG why do they need subscrptions? I thin I was more wound up when done.

Hi all, I just finished reading the better part of 5 pages. I am somewhat perturbed. You all toot how great this site is over the other site. I am actually one of the noobs over there, trying to help the newest noobs. I only post what I learned from you guys over the past 2 years or so. You shouldn't be laughing at some poor guy getting misinformation and possibly damaging his ride and/or wasting money. I was under the impression that this site is dedicated to helping all who need it. Quit wasting time ridiculing the old site, and lets all find a way to get the noobs over here. I for one will remain a member over there, if for no other reason, but to help. I love this site, but the other site is the first forum I was ever a member in. You all helped me greatly over there, thru 3 Trailbazers. I look forward to getting help on this site, and hopefully contributing where I can. And yes Roadie, I did get your emails. Thanks, but I was already a member here. Please don"t critisize me for trying to help. I try to see past all the bickering and moneymaking horse shit. What I contribute over there is nothing much, but I try. Keep up the good work, I look forward to being a member for many years to come. ( mostly here):frown:

And when you post what you learn here you help VS which screwed us all over with the their money grubbing. They took what was a great site, built by us, for us, and ran us off. We were all members there first, but knowing what they did is enough reason to stay away and not help them grow. You are welcome to help over there, but know you are only doing a disservice to this site and the members that truly created Trailvoy and GMTNation.

You may not like this thread, but with all the BS that Vertical Scope is doing, we needed a place to vent. You will notice it is not strung out through every thread, but localized to a couple and anyone can ignore those.

Keep in mind that your above post would be zapped/removed/hidden by Trailvoy in a heartbeat if you mentioned GMTNation. We are open, they are closed.

Do as you want, but truly consider what we are doing here and what they are doing there.

For starters, I did not, and will not, post there what I learned here. I posted there what I learned from all of you there, which was alot, considering my limited brain capacity. I am just trying to help when I can. I will soon dis-associat myself from that site soon enough, when I can figure out how to take as many noobs with me, that I can. I do love the layout of this site, and look forward to years of use and helpfullness ( if thats a word )
Keep up the good work, and forgive me if I have a kind heart!

Look at it this way...
If you answer questions on TV, the noobs won't have any reason to look elsewhere for answers. It will then become their home and VS will make more money. Since VS won't let you post anything about this site while you're answering the questions, noobs will continue to be unaware of this site and stop searching because they will have found a place to get questions answered.

Leading noobs here to where the active community is, would be the best thing for them going forward. The OS is a reference book now, to be searched and consulted, but not added to, IMHO.

Their business model is so anti-enthusiast and shallow-thinking, that it's hard to NOT take sides. When members know the truth, it should outrage the general membership to be valued as mere eyeballs to be placed in front of ads, and to be shaken down for "contributions" that do NOT go where the paid-membership page says they do. VS lies. Doesn't that BOTHER you?

I thought that since I hadn't been even logged in for a while over there that they had forgotten about me. But no, they mucked with my avatar after I changed it (and I didn't even post anything) so I guess I'm still on the "watch list" :weird:

Roadie, that bothers the shit out of me, believe it. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I am 54 years old. the other site is the first forum I ever became a member of. I enjoyed the comradery of it. Now its different, because all my " comrades " are here. I will do my best to lure the noobs here, but I feel I have an attachment there. Its kinda hard to explain. I will cease to be a member at that sight, this weekend, if for no other reason, then to be welcomed here. I need you guys for support and freindship.
P.S I'm still working on my build from 2 roll over TBs, and will need lots of help in the near future.

I understand how you feel. That was the first site I had ever joined. I joined December 2007. I was a moderator and the Ohio rep for the chapter program. I planned many meets and attended even more. Now I'm banned over there. Believe me...I've gotten over it. My friends are here and this is my home now.

Its the people that make the community not the "address." Most of the good-ole-boys club is over here now. There are a few of us survivors that are picking up stragglers and directing them here. I jump there once a week or so and email people to direct them here.

It was a post on ORTB that told me to come here. No one sent me any e-mails.

I think I see that markmc is still very active over there. It took me some time to find his profile over here.

Staying a member might allow you to invite noobs over here a bit easier. You can't email them any longer (VS suppressed that feature, you might notice) but you can still do cautious PMs.

They could shut down the PM system, but then any chance of reforming a community would be destroyed.

I walked away from 28K posts in my portfolio over there. Since I hardly ever wrote one-word "welcome" posts, I figured I spent enough time and effort typing that it was worth at LEAST 2-3 fat novels. Or a "Dummies" book that I could have sold for profit. Walked away instantly when this site started up. Didn't even take ten seconds for the decision. Stay behind and be lord of *WHAT*? An empty husk that I ALREADY hated the business model of the owners?

And BTW, I'm 59. Not my first on-line community. Actually joined my first one in 1982, way before the WWW, back in the days of bulletin boards and when there were only 300 Usenet newsgroups and the ARPANet was a UUCP backbone.
