Noobs helping noobs!
Every time I go back there, I laugh (and cringe) at the lame advice that noobs are getting from other noobs.
C'mon folks; aside form a few rare problems, there are few things that can go wrong with our platforms that are not predictable and easily fixed. The engines are darn near bulletproof. It drives me NUTS when noobs ignore good advice and listen to their friends on some ricer forum and end up spending a ton of money on stuff they don't need.
Honestly ... when is the last time that "change your fuel filter" every did a THING for anyone except pad the pockets of the dealers and parts suppliers.
I still laugh when owners on the other site report their temp gauges are a tick or two to the left of center and they STILL deny they have a thermostat/coolant temp sensor problem. Go for it buddy ... and come back and whine when you lose your top end acceleration because you have just cooked an expensive and sensitive cat converter now too.
I have been driving cars and writing about cars and writing about driving cars for many many years and I am old and a bit set in my ways, but even I know enough not to rely on old wives' tales, and I understand the technology in these vehicles is different than it was even 10 years ago. Cat converters, sensors, coils, plugs ... are ALL very sensitive these days, and vehicles have been forced by regulators to run MUCH narrower stoichiometric ratios these days.
Sheesh. Noobs "helping" noobs. What a joke.
