That's when I had money. The build in the 87 cost me nothing. I had gone to school with a guy who was building turbo kits in his garage, did a bunch of VW GTIs, then got GM to go with him for a twin-turbo 'Vette. Reeves Callaway. Old Lyme, CT.
The 78 swap was basically a wash. I had an older small block Chevy motor I was hoping to use in a T Bucket. Friend offered to trade out a Ford 302 that was already built for the SBC. Swappd.
The 68 had the 390 in it when I acquired it; I beefed it a bit but kept it sane. Crank and cam, 650 dp carb, a few other goodies. Lots of smaller mods like trying to make them as light as possible, too.
