Hey guys just wanted to ad that on single LEDs to 14.4 volts I recommend 680 ohm 1/4 watt resisters. If you use the maximum current the LEDs will not last long. Also the rear window switches do not need resistors because the board already has reduced voltage. The rear a/c switches have to be reworked because the had the stock bulbs ran in series for swb. I have several pics in my build thread from my led swaps.

Carry on
Ok got some questions on this..

For the rear a/c : is that actually an ac unit or just a fan? And if it's run in series does that mean one resistor for all the bulbs?(not one per bulb)
The rear door switch: I thought I read somewhere that it uses smd? Is that correct?

For modding the rear AC controls, it really doesn't matter what it is, or what it's for, you're only concerned with where the lights are. And yes, if they are in series, then 1 resistor would take care of both bulbs.

If your rear window switches have SMD LEDs, then BTs statement is confirmed. The voltage has already been dropped at that location to accommodate an LED, since an LED is already there.

Hi Guys Just a small question as i will start my Cluster LED Conversion this weekend and i will replace a defected Stepper motor as well; is the LED conversion needs 12 LED Bulbs for the Whole DIC Cluster as i have seen in Aarkon pictures as i only have 10 bulbs so i believe i will have to skip 2 then :undecided:

And just as I was making progress... I lost two pads on one of the bulb solder points,on the rear fan switch [emoji30]. Is this fixable or am I buying another switch?

Pretty sure you screwed the pooch on that one.

If you have some small wire lying around you could make a jumper from one bulb over to where the other is supposed to be and then hot glue/epoxy the LED in place.

OK then which two bulbs you recommend me to skip as i don't want to change any stock bulb rather than the Gauges bulbs itself or other bulbs colors will look ugly with the new blue LED ?

You're not skipping anything. If you only have 10 bulbs in your cluster that aren't LED that you want changed, then change those. If you have more, then change those too. Have you opened up your cluster and looked at it yet?

Honestly.. I would recommend some 3528 smd strips to line the cluster. Not for sure what shipping to you would be but you can get a 16ft roll on eBay for under 15 bucks.

We can't tell you what is going to appeal to your own eyes. It's like swimming. We can't tell you if you're going to like how the water feels, you just have to get in and see for yourself. We've given you a lot of recommendations, but ultimately you have to take a chance and try something. Maybe you like how it turns out, and you're good to go. Maybe you don't, and you want to try something else. That happens with modding all the time.

Heh...is it a bad thing I'm considering hidden Led strips under the dash of the rat?

Yeah, the way the passenger air bag message became non existent after I put blue SMDs behind mine, is what prompted my passenger ejector seat indicator mod.

Different wavelengths of light between what's emitted by the LED and what's permissible by the translucent film. Same thing as putting blue LEDs in the manual HVAC behind the sliders, and the red stops showing up. So you either have to put white or orange SMDs in there, or change the color of the plastic overlay so it allows blue (or any other color) to shine through.

not leds, and still undecided on what i want to do, but i wired up my new 20 year old neon underbody lights for the first time. I've always had a thing for neon.
maybe I'll put them under the hood, that'd look pretty sweet.

Damn, those are nice. At the correct angle they'd make some nice back up / maneuvering lights. Guess you had that idea for trail lights, too. An account I just picked up where he wants to trade some has some like this. He also carries ANZO products, so I'm looking at something like this and making a mount so it'll attach just below my rear license plate and be triggered by the reverse lights. I wouldn't pay that much for it (about $40) cash but he keeps adding things he wants so his bill gets higher and higher. These are 8.5" wide.

I checked the wiring on the box. It's got 3 wires, so I was wondering. Seems it has a built in relay. It shows black wire to ground, white to 12v+, and it recommends yellow to a source on the ignition. Not sure why it would not just be white to ignition, but I guess so it can be shut off like a switchback or other function.

So no this is not an led mod to a gmt but I thought I'd share anyways. It's a prototype boat I'm working on where I work and these are the docking lights for it. The "eyebrow" lights work independently from the docking lights.
