Swapped battery out with "acquired" one from a "lemon lot" on post. Running good, helical better battery than my of one. Lights are brighter, turns over quick

Used it to piss off a ford 250 this morning around 5am. I was in 2 hi on snow covered road cruising along nicely when the big ford decided to pass me and then cut me off. We got stopped side by side at a red light so I put it in 4 hi and smoked him off the line. I got to the roundabout first and he couldn't get past me, so he tailgated me through the roundabout and then tried passing me once through but I just put her down and pulled away. Must suck to have a big heavy ford and get beat by the lil Envoy. Damn these 360's are awesome in the snow especially with snow tires. F*&k you Mr ford 250.

Ok so while the TB is thawing I thought I'll give you guys a sneak preview on today event with my TB.

Replace trans fluid and filter, the nice part of working in a shop is that you have both style filter if you don't know which one is installed.
Replacing license plate bulb harness
Installing new license plate cover glass
Installing a click on bracket for my cell phone, no screw holes in the dash I like that

And if I get the time I'll also going to reseal my RH headlamp

Transmission done, as you can see on the pictures. You should get one of those rechargeable LED lights that are in the picture, those are awesome lights.
Factory transmissions have a thin square magnet inside the pan, I found a TSB were they say that you should replace the square magnet with 2 round ones. I only had 1 round one at the shop so I thought I'll use the square one instead of another round one. I put the square one on the opposite side from factory marking and the round one inside the square marking on the pan. The reason is that on the RH side there is not much room between the pan and the filter so I'm not sure the thicker round magnet would fit on that side (the thin magnet is thin enough to fit between the filter and pan).
Finally install the new gasket and secure it with 4 bolts and you'r ready to install the pan. Of course I put a new filter on it first but got no picture of that.

Check point more stuff, greased front end - well the few fitting I could find.
Replaced license plate wire harness due to one bulb socket was corroded to beyond repair. New harness, new covers and nice new screws.
One "what ever it's called" broke when removed but we have special glue for plastic here at work so I fixed it.

I have the one that snaps in at the center vents. Even with my Note 2, it doesn't really cover the vents much, unless you are firing the air stream towards the back seats. As long as they are aimed at the front passengers, it's all good.

You've definitely been busy. Will be time for a few beers when you get everything done.

lol, well if you TRY to block the vent, then sure... I installed mine in the middle. Left vent still blows nicely on my face when I need it, never have to turn the blower higher than 2 in the summer.

Passenger side is completely unobstructed.

It's all good, different strokes for different folks.

I wanted something that sat up high, but not on the windshield so I could put my sunshade up quickly and easily. I had tried a few other vent mounts, but they shook off when going over speed bumps, or entering driveways that had curbs at the entries. This one's been solid as a JBwelded rock!

Changed the oil. I usually do 7k on Mobil 1 EP, but from what I read the general consensus is use the OLM?

When you get to that milestone, what does your OLM say? I change mine once a year, my OLM is usually between 20-30% by that time.

Had my battery changed. It was... uh.... the factory... battery...  :yikes: . She put in 10 years of solid work! I went with a Red Top of course. For one it was the only thing that wasn't Autocraft at the local Advance Auto, and two is generally a well-regarded brand, and at $30 more expensive than Autocraft's "Platinum" AGM I'm expecting it to show me the same kindness!

I had them do the swap for me. Didn't wanna mess with the box, didn't want to do it in 8-degree (pre-windchill) weather, and they plugged in a setting-saver while the swap was done. Had to remove the handle to make the box fit but oh well!

37ish percent according to torque I believe. I reset it though so I can't check. A solid 4k was highway, I know that for a fact. Last time I did it was the end of July. I drive more than I thought....

Sounds like the battery that was in my old car. Factory battery lasted 10 years.

Sorry that you got a red top though... I'd have taken the Autocraft over the red top.

Meh. I think pretty much every single battery company out there now has some sort of reputation for failure.

Chasing a rough idle with a cold engine, I decided to check my throttle body. It's been a little over a year, and while there was a little buildup on it, not very much. Cleaned it anyway, popped it back in. Skipped resetting the PCM, we'll see if there's any change when I go for a short drive a little later on.

Put the new battery to the trial this morning. I let it sit over 12 hours, then did a start this morning, outside temp 16 fahrenheit. Didn't sound too much slower on the crank than on a warm day. Now to start digging into the next cold-weather problem -- when I do a cold start in this kind of weather after it's sat for quite a while, it runs rough, sounds like a partial miss, but no codes. It goes softens and then goes away after a minute.

Checked another mark off of the Tahoes 100K service list. Got the plugs and wires done. Original 41-985's with 109K or something like that.

Next mission was to try to recalibrate the aux hvac temp door. No dice. This code pops right back up after clearing. Not really a necessity to fix since the front hvac warms the truck enough. I did some googling and found that the aux hvac module is the tahoes version of the ignition switch guess in the trailblazers.

20150111_154016.jpg

Since I'm still learning the Tahoe I did a module scan to see what all this thing has. 14 modules of fun. In auto hvac there is a section for aux hvac so it's almost like they said "yo dog we heard you like modules so we put modules in your modules so you can module while you module". Thanks GM for making that setup so intuitive, I always look for modules in other modules. :nono:

Installed the Pioneer FH-X820BS and GMOS-01. Finally have a CD player again. Chimes are different but work. Got the radio's custom color display for the key and accent lights to reasonably match the Voy's light teal color.

The radio has Bluetooth so I need to install the included microphone. I don't think putting it on the visor will work out in the long run.

Proof!

The mic mine came with was pretty damn long, so I ran it all the way up to the overhead console, and installed it over one of the small mic vents. It's been perfect for the year+ I've had it there, callers can hear me clearly. :twocents:

That thought occurred to me. Did you pull the OnStar mic? How did you secure it? I've never pulled apart the overhead console. Even if I just use the double sided foam tape they included to mount the mic temporarily, it's too cold for it to stick properly.

There was another open grille, I dunno what it was for. All I did was zip tie the wire along one of the other wires that was up there. You could run a small strip of duct tape over it too. It doesn't take much, and it's not like there's anything pulling on it, so it's not going to come loose.
