What did you do to your GMT today?

I've seen some images where folks have painted the cover over the intake manifold. Was thinking about doing that on my 4.2 in the GM red hue.

Suggestion on paint or type of paint?

I believe BlckShdw painted his silver along with a few other items under the hood. Put on a couple coats of adhesion promoter (for plastic), primer, paint, and then clear coat. Oe you could skip the primer and go from adhesion promoter, paint, then clear coat.

I didn't use any adhesion promoter, but I scuffed them a little bit with a scotch bright pad, used some dupli color sandable primer (had left over from when I smoothed out the textured surface on my mirrors), and then a few coats of body color, and clear on top of that.

Since it's under hood stuff, and I don't have my hood up to show off or anything, I didn't bother with wet sanding between coats, or buffing the clear to make it shiny.

drove the tbss to the dog park. after months of FIDDLING, everything is finally working properly! Just need to clean this pig. and re-attach the rearview mirror...

I did have to order a door latch because I can't get the stupid switch to work consistently and the assembly looks plastic-welded shut

its still a bartonmd bumper, just a weld it yourself kit. i think i need to upgrade my front springs now, but I'll wait till i get a skid plate and take off the curt hitch. i like how it turned out.


(unless you're talking about the barb wire grill I'm planning, already talked to my welder about it lol)

Ah yes I did notice that lil curt hitch you had hiding under the bumper. Looks real good. I know you've been talking about that barbed wire idea for a while now lol. That'd be a sweet mod

My truck is black, so I was thinking of painting it red to match the GMC logos.

I have too many ideas, not enough time ( or $$) and I'm minus a hand right now. I don't remember if it has a logo on it but if not I'd probably use a small stencil I've got planned for the calipers and do a white "General Motors" on it.

Nice dog bone creeper. At a former employer, there were a bunch of plain wooden ones for maintenance stocked around here and there, and one dog bone. It was comfortable and just plain fun on slow nights

I drove mine, and did tire pressure checkup.
