I did find a weird little ridged oval silicone seal just below the PCM when I took it off, same material as the PCM connector seals, but no obvious place where it may have come from. And from the imrprint in the dust where it was sitting, it has been there a while - It didn't just fall there today when I did the PCM:

Anyone know where the tranny temp sensor that feeds the PCM is actually located? IS the pan temp a close enough approximation?

Dang I have seen that seal someplace just can't remember on what connector. Looking at it tells me its most likely a 2 wire connector( such as wheel speed sensor).

The trans temp sensor is mounted inside the "transmission fluid pressure switch". That switch is on the bottom of the valve body in the pan. So the temp it feeds to the pcm is the temp of the fluid in the pan. So I would say its close enough.

Many of the locking Delphi connectors use that kind of seal. Looks like it would be a small one though.

Checked the end links since they were making noise again, but their tight and have no movement. I just changed them but I did get the cheap one's. Going to check tie rods hopefully before it storms....

Looks like the seal for one of the plugs on the wire harness. Look at any plugs in that area and see if one of them is missing its seal. It would probably only ever cause an issue if things got really wet under there

LOL like when I pressure washed the engine bay after the PCM change?? heheh yeah I thought it looked like a wire harness seal, can't for the life of me spot where....and it leads to the more curious question of why it's off, and what maintenance or repairs may have been done previously that I might want to know about.

Thx

I thought so too but I figured id say em. The third one I was wrong, as it is the MAP sensor. Which is basically right above the pcm

Anyone know if these are color coded in some way or is it a matter of year and what color rubber they happened to make? I saw a few of those this weekend when I was working on my TB, but all of them were orange. I see all the rubber seals you show there are that same lime green.

I took the one off my map sensor and it was purple, the one off the horn is grey. The coolant temp sensor is GREEN. which is right beside the pcm.

Checked tie rods, the drivers side has movement in the outer rod, passenger doesn't but might as well do both. Which tie rods would be best?

I'm guessing Moog's are probably the best according to the few threads I have read on here. Input is greatly appreciated, not exactly a part I'm willing to cheap out on.

And he found that ring right under his PCM, so I'd venture to guess that would be a good place for WarGawd to start looking.

Yup, that's why I got the tie rod ends at Autozone as I needed them right then. I try to plan ahead otherwise!

Today I drove all over with the windows down and sunroof wide open, it was great  And I can also tell we're finally off the winter gas as I got 20mpg last tank, which I haven't seen since last fall :wootwoot: I also wonder if chopping that resonator off may have made any difference since it wasn't exactly intact inside :undecided:

I drove this with the top down :raspberry:

I took the wheel spacer off of Short Bus to send them in and have the hub-centric part turd down a little. Marks spacer guy has great customer service, I got the spacers used over a year ago and he is still taking care of me

well.. more bad news... I swear I give up with this f@#$kin truck...

now mind you, none of this is the dealers fault, but I cant help but yell at them since they're the ones contacting me, plus my father works there as well, so he hears it even worse for obvious reasons...

but I call them last week because I hadn't heard anything (the new crate motor was set to arrive on Monday, and I would have the truck back by Friday at the latest).. turns out, GMPP/Dahmer never shipped the motor... fast track to today, dealership calls me, tells me to pick up the truck... SWEET, shes done... nope... false hope... the saga continues... as it turns out, a brand new LS2 crate motor is on a 4 month national backorder!!!!! :hissyfit::hissyfit::hissyfit::mad::mad::mad:

sooooo... I am picking her up tomorrow, they told me to drive her until the new motor comes in, then they'll call me to get it installed... so I'll be attending yet another meet with a piece of chit motor... FML!!!

I think I would give up at this point. You would think they would of known about the backorder 3(?) weeks ago when they decided to replace the motor AGAIN. Think you would be tempted to drive it through the lobby of GMPP/Dahmer's building and tell em to "keep the f!%&ing truck" . .. .

Gave the TB a quick rinse to wash the pollen off after the trip to DC. Also, just purchased a Q-Logic sub box for the cargo area that will be home to my 10" Alpine Type-R sub!

I swear man you are a saint. By now they should make the remaining payments off for you. That's complete bullshit.

for the price of the 4 motors they probably should have.

This is probably a good bet since I had the coolant temp sensor replaced along with the t-stat relatively recently, and someone else did the work for me. I'll follow that lead thx

+1 for RockAuto, ordered mine this afternoon:

View attachment 27347

Pricing there almost seems to be a too good to be true story...makes me wonder how they do it, and how their competitors aren't forced to lower prices somewhat. For comparison, Benson Auto locally wanted $120 ea for the Moog ball joints....easily makes it worth a $30 trip across the border to get them

Juan,

I bet my left one (only cause I lost my right one in another bet), that when you get the new crate motor, all your past pissed offness (yeah, I know, it's not a word) will be a thing of the past.

With that being said, I would almost bet that it was off the old one that got replaced.

Pics of roof rack from yesterday. Still needs painted and wired up, but had to help my buddy swap a fuel pump on his Ranger and ran out of time. Plus I want to see how this affects MPG and if it makes any noise before spending too much time on it. Also need to change a couple bolts and mounts. Wanted the lights and a solid roof rack but with a lower profile. Plus I had all the materials on hand and have zero cost (minus time) in trying this out.

Isn't that seal attached to the plug though, not the sensor?
