My dad was a single father to 10 kids 9 of which were girls, I am the baby of the family. My dad does all his own work to his vehicles so we learned that there was more behind owning a vehicle.

..I always thought that your dad must have owned a garage or the like, because you seem so savy about what is typically thought of as guy stuff.I was waiting for an old picture of you in a diaper under a lube rack ...Mike.

How long did it take?

The actual soldering and wiring took me about 4-5 hours. But I spent like two days before just reading about how to connect everything. Not a too bad job actually. Took a lot of pictures as well, might make it an how-to.

I guess I'm just a different kind of gal lol I grew up helping crew chief on my dad's race car, I was a spotter for him for years as well. I worked on the safety crew at a local track in MI (Spartan Speedway and Owosso Speedway) for a few years too. I have always been around hotrods and vehicles. I guess that comes with the territory of growing up in Motor city?

I'm just happier this way lol Cars, trucks, tools etc...are far more complicated than the next fashion craze.

I will have to see if I can dig up some of my old pictures from the cars I helped work on when I was growing up. My dad raced in the Allison Legacy series.

Edit- To stay on topic, I'm going to see if I can go visit the truck today. The last time I got to visit was Thursday and I'm feeling a bit lost without my baby in the drive way.

Your husband is lucky. LOL. My girl doesn't know (or care) how to do anything on her car. The answer is to "take it to Robert" (her dad's friend that runs a garage). Always asking why I'm crawling under the truck or ripping the dash apart instead of taking it somewhere. "uhhh cuz its a $30 job that would be $200+"

LOL well...sometimes he is. There are times when we both want to dig each other's graves from arguing over mechanical stuff. It took me a month and about 4 really good arguments to convince him that my t-stat needed to be changed. Sometimes I have to also remind him that I'm not entirely vehicle stupid because he goes off explaining stuff that I already know, so it gets challenging at times. I would much rather argue about vehicle mechanics though than some of the stuff that some couples argue about.

I think now that he has his own truck, he will understand why I have been such a wench about the maintenance on mine :raspberry:

I'm sure he will read this and have his own say lol

Went to pick up my ds fri. It was sitting there ready but there was only this old lady there and she wouldn't give it to me because she didnt have the invoice. She doesn't realize how close she came to a pistol whipping. Was in my garage until 11 Thurs getting everything ready...

So anyway I took the time to replace my ball joints. Broke an abs sensor in the process. And sheared a zerk fitting in one of the bjs so I'm in a great mood. Went to the junk yard but if course all the sensor wires are snipped so ill have to cut and solder mine. Awesome. Yey. :banghead:

Lol..sounds like me. I dont have alot of patience when it comes to small piddly shit.

Drove to a buddys house today. Noticed the ss was a little bouncy...actually hit a bump and hit my head on the liner. My bumpstops were on the axle. So we readjusted the bag sensors and now rides good again. Next purchase 30.5" drop springs from tony.

Well that didn't go as planned.:rotfl:

I have a replacement on the way, plus a spare and a spare for the spare and a spare for the spare which is a spare for the original spare.

Spark plug change @ 180K...90K intervals.

Compression test with good results, 206, 205, 210, 205, 204, 202 PSI ....In cyl order 1-6.

These readings obviously may have variations as I tried the best I could to snug the tester against the O-ring. Cyl #6 I needed the short extension tube which may have skewed the readings but most likely only caused the pressure build to be slightly slower.....not sure though.

I FINALLY got to go see Phantom this morning and was a bit blown away. I actually did tear up slightly when I walked in lol. They got him mostly sanded, they were working on finishing the sanding so they can get him cleaned up and masked off, and hopefully sprayed by Thursday. They did an amazing job repairing a bent and torn up passenger fender, and of course the clear coat problems. I'm excited to have him back hopefully by this weekend. Anyways here are some pictures...

The clear coat issue was 10x worse than these pictures when I brought the truck in

The prep work...

That's what they were explaining to me today while I was there. They told me that I should be good to wax by late summer early fall.

Yeah I'm glad I didn't have to do all that sanding lol. He still has to remove the front bumper so he can sand inside the holes where the fog lights go, and he is going to sand, paint and clear the headlights so I don't have to keep doing the VHT niteshade which will be nice. It's been a LONG week but I know in the end it will be all worth it.

and thats exactly why i live alone :rotfl:

as for what i did today... I got the phone call from the dealership and the beaSSt is going back to the dealer on wednesday to be the referee as the dealer and GMPP battle things out... GMPP is trying to place the blame on the dealership now and are trying to say that they are installing it wrong... little does GMPP know, I already talked to the Ohio GMPP rep, and he verified the vibration issues with the motor, and knows that i need a new motor.... let the arguments begin

I would like to see what you do for a CB mount. I have not found anything I like so far.

I got the radio already. It is a Midland 75-822 with wx channels. It is a 2 in 1 setup. It comes with a 8AA ni-cad batterycase/pack with built in charger,6AA alkaline case/pack and a car adaptor with a cig lighter plug and a antenna hook up for external antenna. In the car setup it is not much bigger than a mic. I think I will mount it so it hangs on near the heater control. The radio will need a slight mod because it comes with a belt clip and I want a button mount. I think I will remove the belt clip and drill it to add the standard button mount. Then the unit will hang in a plastic clip for a regular CB mic that 2 side tapes to the dash.

As for the antenna. I have an idea to mount it to a custom made plate that will bolt to the hood hinge bolts. This way it will come up on the left side about where the factory radio antenna does on the right. And if I want to remove it when not in use the mount will be under the rubber at the end of the cowl out of sight.:undecided:

I had a cracked muffler which caused the carpet to melt. Cut off the old exhaust and looked at the damage. Angle grinder made things go fast. Hardest part was removing the exhaust from the rubber hangers. Heard a truck pull up, got my new exhaust system.

Still need to get a new exhaust shield or I might wrap the muffler.

Gibson is all nuts and bolts, should be quick to install.
