well the sequence of events started when my 4l80 lost 3rd gear. i'd rather take it out with the engine than go from the bottom honestly. Going to rebuild my 4l70 myself, the 4l80 never shifted right, tcc locking was rough as shit, vss has always been way off, so i wasn't surprised when it went. I'll chalk it up to a failed experiment. I'll keep the 4l80 around to rebuild when my 3500 van needs one. previously i had cracked my flexplate, and it chewed up the trans oil pump so I sent the tc to yank to get cut/inspected/rebuilt.
so while i'm at it, the engine has been eating oil for a while now. so getting it taken apart, cylinder hone and new rings, bearings, nothing crazy. probably got 15k-20kmi on this engine (fml). already has a forged rotating assembly, stupid large cam. heads were CNC ported but could use a healthy polishing. getting headers ceramic coated as my engine bay is hot as hell. C6 oil pan conversion while i'm at it. I had the front diff in there not connected to anything for about a year now so i can finally yank that out easily. going to extend the harness that crosses over the intake that feeds the passenger side of the block. might powder coat the accessories, valve covers, etc. wish they made a fast 102rt for ls3 heads sigh...
