Work, and waiting for the storm to roll in. I did manage to get the grass (and leaves) mowed yesterday. Debating on whether or not I want to tackle cleaning the garage tonight, see how far 4 hours of sleep gets me.

Finalizing my taxes last night with H&R Block software. Mrs. Roadie is a partner in a quilting shop, and it was profitable last year, its 2nd year in operation. I hate profits if they can't take them out of the business, because we still have to pay self-employment tax, and that phantom profit adds to my income and the effective rate is higher. I think I found a bug in the software when I did a final scan and saw that H&R Block didn't calculate the 15.3% self employment SS and Medicare tax automatically. On hold now with their Tier 2 escalation staff on what has to be their busiest day of the year. Sigh......

I HATE chat because it ties me to the desk and I can't move around like being on the phone. Damn I'm going to pee in my coffee mug soon. :hissyfit:

:rotfl: All I've done is observe the blood moon and bring some leaves to the compost. No snow yet and no coffee mug to pee in if I wanted to.

Edit: What's the point of owning a business if you can't tap your own profits? Unless you are trying to build and grow I could understand.

You got it in one. First year their investment in fixtures and especially fabric inventory was a wonderful loss. One that we meant to take. Second year we thought was going to be break even, and they beat the odds and made about $30K. They plowed all of that back into inventory, but the increased inventory isn't deductible anymore. It comes from "retained profits" but we still have to pay taxes for the year the profits come from. If the business was a corporation, with the increased paperwork and legal fees that come along with that, the profits wold be taxed at the lower corporate tax rate. But it's an LLC partnership, so the phantom profits show up on our personal tax returns. Even though the business didn't throw off any cash to help us pay.

Next year, they are at the limit of inventory their floor space can possibly hold, so there won't be any more inventory increase and we might actually take some profits home. Although they might decide to grow the business more, move to another shop space in their same strip mall, increase the area, and take in another partner to invest to help the growth and reduce the hours the two partners are now working. It's never easy owning your own place.

Anybody interested in quilting, her shop's web site is Annie's Quilting Den, LLC | Bright, colorful and contemporary. Think outside of the box!

EOBD TECHNOLOGY CO LTD
China (Mainland)

Like they didn't clone the Tech II and violate copyright all over the place. CCCC. Cheap Criminal Chinese Crap. :hissyfit:

It's cheap for a darn good reason, like DVDs at the flea market are cheap, and $10 "leather" designer handbags are cheap. Buy one if you have other ways to get a good night's sleep.

Playing with Hyper V server 2012 R2. Going a bit crazy since I spent the last 15 minutes trying to get iSCSI target server installed on it when it doesn't support it

I feel for the price its gunna be a scam. But with purchasing through paypal, I would have some protection if it is a scam... I don't know... Would be awesome to have...

Trust me, I was debating buying a clone since 1) they were a fraction of the price of a legit used one, and 2) they did have good feedback on a vette forum (don't remember the name of said forum, sorry). The deal breaker was that the clones can't be repaired if they fail.

Its a miracle, I cleaned the garage. Also washed my spare set of wheels to list for sale, and put a bunch of other stuff up on Craigslist. The TB might actually fit in the garage. Now its time for a nap, 4:30 comes quick.

I get to play delivery boy, take some parts down to Seattle for another technician (assuming our parts people can find them in the warehouse here), and then go be a service technician again.

My company has lost 3 service techs in the last 3 months, so my 'remote support & troubleshooting' job just became 'on-site troubleshooting while still answering phone calls.' At least it's only 2 days a week until we get some new techs.

Relaxing and enjoying some home time. Third day of vacation and already did drywall in the laundry room, daughter's room and redone the bathroom upstairs. Been relaxing and watching TECORE videos on YouTube most of the afternoon and drooling over the rigs. Y'all are hardcore!

Finally got home. Passed out super-early last night. We had a special showing of this year's Easter drama tonight, it was great and highly engaging. Speaking of which, anyone near the WV/OH border who has nothing better to do tomorrow and/or Sunday let me know, I can get you an address and a time if you'd like to see it.
