Working and wondering how the commute home will be with the ice they are calling

Well, not much ice but 465 was slow from Castleton to the 10th St. exit on the west side. My drive home was almost doubled, at 55 minutes. Snow is really coming down now.

Reading another forum (Blazer enthusiasts) where of course there's a TB section.

Currently reading this story about a guy who did an oil change on a 4.2. Filled the oil filter before installing (that's about 0.5 quarts), then put in 7.2 quarts through the top. So, in total, 7.7 quarts. He said he "always checks the dipstick while still on the ramps," which is really rather stupid, so he filled it til it read at the top notch while ON THE RAMPS instead of level. And then freaked out since he ran it just a little bit thinking he really screwed something up because there was a light ticking which he later says it did before the change anyway, and then talked about the oil pressure reading looking great at 50psi after the change. :undecided:

I've learned a LOOOOOOOT through GMTNation, enough to know how funny a lot of this is (the checking level on ramps part is a no-brainer though :rotfl:)

Then again, this guy's signature says he also owns a 98 Jimmy with a "throttle body spacer" listed as a mod on it, so doesn't really surprise me much.

Edit: Wait a minute, Hardtrailz is a member of that forum :rotfl: active at least like 3 years ago, preaching about the throttle body

Yeah, me too, WV wanted one dollar. That dollar COULD HAVE been a 0.001% downpayment on a house!

If you do it right you can buy with 0 down .

Our refunds should be in the account by the end of the week, interest and tax deduction helps a lot. However I would rather pay off the house and have no payment.

I actually about had that lined up like 3 years ago. There was a house I was interested in, managed to score a pre-approval on a USDA zero-down loan (and it wasn't even a farm, just gotta know the loopholes), but the person selling the house turned out to have a bunch of liens on it which meant it wasn't able to be sold in the first place, not sure how the realtor missed that. Oh well.

Made it to work. Through all the zombies that clearly have no business driving in 3"+ of snow.

Taxes were completed last night....money back from Feds and State. :wootwoot:

Doesn't even have to remotely close to a farm. Our house is right on the border of an approved zone, across street is commercial. It has some crazy equation dealing with average income, population etc. We seen some f-d up stuff when looking at houses, our realtor recommended not trying for a short sale or foreclosure because it could have been up to 6 months before we closed. We also found 1 with some liens for various things, some of it unfinished roof work which left 1 room exposed to the weather for 2 months.

Last year they wanted $6. This year they want $600 :hissyfit:

The one time I found out I owed state was ridiculous. Had already received my return, then I get a letter the following year saying that I owed $96 or something like that, however with fees, interest and penlites I owed $245.

well the drive was interesting this morning, too many people with no reason to be driving what the are in out there...I-35 is one lane in most areas, snow drifts over the far left lane in some spots...but I made it in (wish I had a G80 rear though)

but on a brighter note I got a GREAT parking spot today...and I'm the only one here still at quarter past 9 (been in since 6:15)

Getting into work was actually no problem. Then it spit just a tiny little wee bit of sleet that melted quickly, toward the beginning of the "mountains" it was suddenly slick on the way home. Have a post in the weather thread about it detailing what happened, no pics though because I wasn't snapping pics of it :rotfl: I imagine it's because it receives more wind than a bit further east since it's where the elevation first comes up, which chilled the water that's all over the road thanks to the rain. Then a salt truck rolls by about ten minutes later. Nice!

Dealing with lack of electricity since 7 AM. Its been 12.5 hours now. Half a million customers without power in Philly area. Fortunately I have a generator. May not get commercial power before the weekend.

I installed an automatic home standby generator for my parents a few years ago. It is awesome. Well, when it doesn't have a dead battery. Seems it fries the starter battery every 1.5-2 years for some reason

Maybe a poor recharge design or goofy voltage regulator which drives too much power to the battery continuously?

That's what I'm figuring. Probably a charger design issue as it has done this since it was new. I've wondered about replacing the charger unit inside with a good quality charger unit instead via a retrofit or something, but we've never really looked into it much.

There will be a certain timeframe after which a retrofit was cheaper than replacing batteries, but obviously the longer you've already rolled with it the less the savings (assuming some definite EOL date)

Getting ready to do the same thing myself. I think after my incident my truck's idle got a hint rough, but maybe I'm just being paranoid, the drive to work will let me check for sure. I'm probably being paranoid (happens a lot :rotfl:)

Also, taxes are back!

I am always paranoid after any incident with my vehicles. You get like super human senses and every little noise, shake or strange movement makes you question whether it is normal or not. Stopped worrying with the TB though, can't worry when I am a putting stress on components going off road.

For today I am at the dealership, bastadges are going to be a while. Then off to work.

With taking it offroad, I have more noises and shakes, but I definitely know what is normal and pay attention to any odd ones.

I have 2 issues I need to look into when I get a chance, one is the death wobble above 55. It seemed to go away when I had the tires rebalanced, however it has returned. The shot bushings in my UCA seemed to mask it. my other is the sound coming from the driver side wheel when I turn slowly. Its possible the two are connected, but I have not had the time to trouble shoot. That will be for a new thread at some point.

I haven't ruled it out yet, only thing making me think otherwise is I can hear it with wheel turned in either direction. I was thinking CV, but the vibration would be more likely with the hub. Would really suck as they have less than 5 miles on them.

It may have just been a dead one right off the bat. Would not be first one I heard of.
