Had an interesting commute this morning. I'll preface this by saying while I'm not as aggressive with my driving habits as some, you'll never have to worry about me being "in your way" on the roads. On a major (3 lane) road, I was in the left lane behind 3 other cars cruising along at 5 over. No one was behind me for about 6 car lengths, and then I see a white Malibu whip out of the center lane into the left, and run up on me like I slapped his wife or something. He started flashing his high beams so fast, I had to pause thinking he was a cop or something, but nope... He dropped back a couple car lengths, flashed at me for a couple of seconds again. The car that was in the center lane just behind me slowed down, and this jack ass jumped over there thinking he could pass. Someone up ahead had brake checked and the whole center lane slowed down to about 35.
Then some woman in a late model Carolla runs up on me doing the same thing with her high beams, and honking her horn.
So now I'm confused and wondering if my truck is on fire, I'm dragging a dead body off the trailer hitch, or something. She cuts off a truck in the center lane, who was in front of the guy in the Malibu, to try and get around. Both of them still flashing their lights at people. No idea if they had a real emergency, you had to take that road to get to one of the area hospitals, or if it was a case of telepathic road rage. Was really wishing I had built that quad camera DVR system for the truck.
Anyway... Now I'm in the cube, working away. In light of learning one of my other early bird coworkers has left the company, that reduces the number of people with keys and the alarm code down to 2, and one of them travels fairly often. So if the other person is late, or out sick, I'd end up having to wait around for like an hour until the next person with keys shows up
So I think I'll be asking my boss for a key to the office and the alarm code. Guess we'll see how much trust they have in me
Although it'll be 6 years next month, so shouldn't be a problem really.
After work, will chill at the crib for a bit, before kicking off the weekend with a dinner/movie date night. Sucks that we're supposed to have heavy thunderstorms starting this afternoon, and going all night. That won't be fun to drive in.
