What did they use for the rest of the windshield? That urethane glue is meant to keep the windshield from flying out in a crash as well as seal it.chipjumper said:Oh this tops everything off - I bought this from a VW dealership this past Spring. It had 68k miles and was in immaculate condition; was a trade in. I kept hearing this wind noise. Salesman insisted it was the antenna. Sure as shit, I could feel wind blowing up. I used that as a negotiation tool as there is no way this would pass Maryland inspection. Regardless, I would get moisture blown up the inside when driving through a storm. The defogger was good enough to keep up. After pulling this apart tonight, it appears the new windshield installed by the previous owner was done in haste. I used an inspection mirror to confirm that there is NO urethane sealer/glue on the driver side bottom! Nothing! W T F! ... Fixed with some clear silicone.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1421567428.623580.jpg
It is that black urethane stuff. I called Safelite and they refused to take a side job like this - they only do replacement. I could not get through to the nearest store. Kept sending me to the national call center. Plus I haven't had a moment to stop by that store 40 miles away. I'm wondering if a $100 bill could have had this perfect condition windshield reinstalled properly by a pro...Mark20 said:What did they use for the rest of the windshield?

I had to do 2 trips to Viking Cives last week, wing positioners and main chain. After a lot of shoveling they ended up using a snow blower to empty the box.smt 59 said:At work minding the salt trucks
Flip it back over and drive it lol. It doesn't look that bad... Just curious how he managed to do that.SmokeyMcBlazer said:Mourning the loss of an old friend. Could I get a moment of silence for my old 4Runner. The guy I sold it to just emailed me these:

Thankfully, he said he walked away without a scratch. So its not all bad. Sad day for me though, we had some good times. It came from British Colombia, I bought it in Toronto and drove it to central Newfoundland and back. The guy I sold it to, drove it back to British Colombia for it to die on a mountain road possibly not too far from where it was originally sold! Such is the circle of life I guess...
Not really sure, he said the truck rolled or slid off the road. Maybe black ice or something.Sparky said:Flip it back over and drive it lol. It doesn't look that bad... Just curious how he managed to do that.
