I decided to DVR it, and started watching it last week. Pretty good, I think.Fire06 said:Watching a new show called The Strain
I'll drink to that! [emoji1]IllogicTC said:Reading. MSDS sheets, specifically. Did you know that consumption of ethanol can help decrease the metabolism of ethylene glycol (common ingredient in antifreeze)? I'm reading an MSDS for Valvoline's Zetex right now and it says this. It also says, and I quote, " If medical care will be delayed several hours, give the patient three to four 1-ounce oral "shots" of 86-proof or higher whiskey before or during transport to the hospital. "
So part of treatment potentially involves getting tipsy. The more you know!
I wonder how they even go about this? I doubt it's done by hand as it'd take longer and have the potential to have slack which (given thousands of wires across thousands of vehicles) could cost that sweet sweet money.jimmyjam said:fixed the shift lock solenoid wiring in my gfs wimpala. for some reason the ground wire going to the solenoid was shorter than the rest of the wires and eventually pulled out of the connector... shitty qc there...
i'm pretty sure wire harnesses are made by hand. probably some shithead got to the end of the spool 3/4" short and figured fuck itIllogicTC said:I wonder how they even go about this? But how is the measurement taken? I would imagine some assembly line where they go "okay, we're putting two red wires in here and here, a black here, an orange here, and two green/whites, here and here." And instead of each station measuring out some length by hand, there is a machine which dispenses the required length. The actual assembly may still be hand-done, but with machine assistance to maximize efficiency and trim cost.jimmyjam said:i'm pretty sure wire harnesses are made by hand. probably some shithead got to the end of the spool 3/4" short and figured fuck it
like any other manufacturing process, you have a jig. in this case it is a board with pegs in it. you just run the wires from point a to point b. looks like thisIllogicTC said:But how is the measurement taken?
