Mainly just curious. Might hop on a good deal, ya'know. Or I'd totally wait and see if Matt wants it and let him take it if he'll use it in a retrofit.

Would take some ingenuity to wire it up right to let it be able to cycle...it'd need a constant power source instead of the flashing turn signal output.

Someone has to use them. That would look awesome sitting at an intersection with the turn signal on going through the whole sequence. Definitely would get pulled over quickly.

Think so? I don't think it'd be that big of a deal to the cops because it's not blue or red.

I feel like it'd be too *bam in your face* for me to rock them.

That strip is crazy, you might put other drivers into an epileptic seizure if you're the first car in the turn lane at an intersection at night :dielaugh:

That sucks it's not programmable out of the box, I'm sure if you picked up a different controller, and had spare time and energy to mod it, you could make it work. All of the LEDs have separate leads already, so you'd just have to make the connections to the new controller :twocents:

Would be pretty sweet project to delve into if you had the time.

Thought about this.. Might be an easy way to make a sequential turn strip.. [emoji2]

Ugh, wouldn't you know it... The bit of work I had to do this week, got taken care of by lunch time, so I had all afternoon to try and keep myself busy. And what did I do with my free time? Looking up stuff for mods, resulting in me buying some capacitors, since it turns out between the stuff I just ordered a few days ago, and stuff I already have, I could build a 12V regulated PWM controller. Would come in handy for dimming down and cool LED mods that I haven't come up with yet. And it would be way cheaper than the popular Quickar models, and some of the Chinese Ebay specials.

I'm thinking if I decide to build LED eyebrows again or finish that LED bow tie, I would definitely need separate bright and dim modes for day and night time, maybe activate it with the parking light signal. I know from using those Cree P4 LEDs (see avatar, that's 9V) those things would be WAY too bright to run at full power in the dark.

Maybe make some and sell them to fund future mods :undecided:

Thought about it briefly, but it wouldn't really be worth it. You can get some as cheap as $5 and some change, shipped, like this one. Plus, if you haven't noticed by the pace of my retrofit builds, I don't exactly hustle to get things done quickly :lipsrsealed:

I think he was talking about the bowties, not the regulators.

If he wasn't....then what would you think about making them? Pretty much the same?
Correct Mounce. Was actually talking about the LED eyebrows and the bow tie.

Nice. When you used your add-a-fuse, did you splice one of the led strips wires into the other or just add them both to the add-a-fuse? Also what fuse did you use again? I remember you mentioned once before but I can't seem to locate that post.
I just ran my fuse wire up towards the driver headlight and then connected the eyebrows from both sides there. And as for which fuse.. Here is the pic. I just used one that had power when ignition was on. So they are basically my drl

:duh: I should have known better. Hmm, yeah I guess if I get around to figuring out a good way to make a mold, that won't trap air bubbles for the bowtie when filled, I'd probably want to make at least a few, to offset the costs. Mold making ain't cheap, I learned that from the failed NF lens fiasco a few years back.

Trying to get away from LED strips for eyebrows, tried that a few times, and it really irked me when 1 section would go out. So I'm thinking just a full LED array on some sort of frame, and then cut out part of the bezel to make it fit where I want it. Pure speculation of course. But that's a long ways off.

Did you pull a fuse out to put in the add-a-fuse?

So my new alternator is coming this week, should I paint it with the blue paint I used on my calipers...? Thoughts gents?

Would it be a bad idea to dismantle it? To properly paint it or is that a no-no for alternators?

That's how I wanna go about it, so it's done right, I don't know how you would tape off an alternator that's in one piece. I'll look at examples on YouTube or etc. I know it's been done, they look great painted.

Ahhh yeah good idea, caliper paint Kit

That sounds like a PITA and I would imagine it would void any warranty. Sounds like you are just making more work for yourself.
I just wanna try something people don't do often. Perhaps I'll experiment with the shot alternator first brother. If it is just a PITA, then I'll nix the whole idea on the new one. Sound good?

Good idea. If it goes horribly wrong you haven't screwed up your good parts.
