Always liked the Harleys but the cost is a little high. Honda VFR or maybe the a bike like the triumph tiger . Every one has a version and the are fairly comfortably .

You can get a lot more bike for less money than a harley.

hmm. like what you have in mind?

i'm kinda looking at the Kawasaki Ninja and the Suzuki GSXR mainly because they are cheap. but i kinda want a regular bike. just not really sure what's out there. i got time to decide. this won't be until probably after my deployment.

Depends on your mission and what you want out of a bike. Mr. Barton on here knows bikes and seems to have really found a good one to fit his wants and needs. I am sure he could offer some advice.

All kinds of good bikes out there, these days! I've put ~85,000 miles on my '97 CBR1100XX that I got in '04, and it fits my needs very well, but it's not a beginner bike at all. A very good beginner and all-around bike that you won't out-grow very quickly is a Suzuki SV650. It's faster than pretty much every Harley that's not the V-Rod or the Street-Rod. Also, the Kawasaki 650 twin that's another good one like that. The SV650 is great because they were great bikes all the way back to like '99 or whenever they came out, and can be had in the $2500 range.

Campagna T-Rex

:salivate::salivate::salivate:

I remember seeing a blue T-Rex with a big rear wing, driving on the T-Can back in '06.

Here's one from Jay Leno's Garage

IMO, there's something to be said for being able to go, stop, and turn. If I was going to get ANY Harley, it would be a Street Rod (which they apparently don't make any more), because of the good engine coupled with more of a "standard" riding position, so you've got some leverage and body position to horse that pig around. Still way too much money for what it is, IMO. If I'm going to spend that kind of money, I'm going to get a Ducati 1198S with the Ohlins suspension front and rear.

I'm telling you straight up. You will drop your first bike. You want you first bike to be something light, cheap, reliable, and without a bunch of bodywork on it. Get an SV650. If you want to step down (up in price, down in performance) to a Harley after you've got 8-10k miles under your belt, that's up to you, but do not get an expensive, ill-stopping, ill-handling 750# pig for your first bike.

Ok thanks. I've been looking around and found that most sport bikes i can pick up for about $3000 so I will definitely be going that way for the first one.

Don't get a "real" sportbike as your first bike! GSXR/CBR-RR/R6/ZX6 are all very peaky, and you spend more brain power trying to keep it in the right gear than concentrating on riding/cornering, and they've very twitchy (good for later. Not good for learning). The SV650 has power everywhere, there are 3 good gears for about any corner, it's cheaper than regular sportbikes, it doesn't have $1500 in fairings to break when you drop it, and you won't get tired of it in 2000 miles, because it has a very reasonable amount of power. It is well known as the "easiest bike to ride fast" made.

alright i'll see what i can find. how about this 2010 Kawasaki ninja 250

The Ninja 250 is a good bike, but they're a little quicker to tire of, due to being a little under-powered (though they'll still go over 100mph, I know), and they still have plastic to mess up when you drop it.
