There were two different 14b semi floating axles used in the gmt400 trucks...the Ss 5 bolt version and the 2500ld/1500 F44 package version...plus Iirc there was a 2wd and 4wd version of the 6 lug 14b sf.

I didn't measure it, but when I had them side by side there was a slight difference. The 8.6 housing has a slightly longer snout with (I think) an extra gusset in there, and the diff cover is deeper even though they have the same bolt pattern.

Next Midwest meet we should compare an 8.6 and 8.0.
