There's no dedicated write up, because there are a few different ways to do it. Some people are happy with 1 LED in stock locations, others wanted 1 LED per button. A couple of not-so-noobs have asked me for pointers, but have gone in slightly different directions when they did their door modules. Their pics are posted in this thread somewhere, just have to find em.
I'm pretty handy with the soldering iron so I'd have no problem figuring it out given some pointers.
The only problem is I'm a visual learner and like to have pictures before I start tearing things apart. If you could link me to any posts with pictures I would greatly appreciate it.

A quick search showed me that Midnyteryder196 posted pics of his front door modules partially assembled earlier this year. (search criteria hint ) I thought there were a couple more people that posted, but I didn't find them.

Hit up aarkon and see if he still has pics from his door modules.. I helped him with one, but then he figured out a lil easier way for everything to sit down under the rubber part, if I ever have to redo mine, or do another door module I'm going to go his route

There is a lot of info in this thread for every interior led upgrade in our trucks, it may take you a while but best thing to do is to take a day or 2 and just read the whole thread. I did and it really helped me figure out where I wanted to start on the whole led conversion.

Yeah I did see that. I think the main difference was that the XB35s, while close in brightness in the beginning, have a shorter expected life span than the more expensive bulbs. So they will color shift sooner. But yeah, I was pretty set on going with a pair of CBIs the next go around, but may go for some XB35s instead. My VVME bulbs lasted many years without color shifting (yet) so I'm pretty sure the XB35s will be fine for my needs.

Unless of course I come up with the ultimate retrofit for my TB, that is perfect in every way, and includes every cool mod idea I could come up with, so I'd never want to change anything in the setup. THEN maybe something more long lasting would be in order. But what are the chances of that happening?

I know what you mean. So far my Morimoto 3Five D2S have been holding up well. I have about 19 months of use on them with daily night driving and I have not really noticed any color shifting. May the next TRS sale I will pick up some XB35s.

I would love a set of the Osram CBIs or Night Breakers, but it is hard for me to justify $185-$190 for a pair of headlights. The Philips 85122 or the Osram 66240 are not bad for $100, but then I think why when I can get (2) sets of XB35s for that price.

Decision, decisions....

Well I started my led project last night. I got all the door modules done. The rears turned out great! Gonna have to do more work to the fronts. Not bright at all can barely see them. Any body have pics on how they may have done multiple less in the front switches? Also just an fyi the rear fan controls on an envoy the lights are soldered in. I ended up pulling the solder off the board. Gonna have to fix the and get them working. Here is a pic of the rear switches 20141015_055754.jpg

Glad to hear you got your feet wet. You gave me a case of deja vu with your question :raspberry:

From earlier on this page :coffee:

I have a burnt out bulb in my passenger's side window button. Naturally this means the entire interior is now due for an LED upgrade.
I have found some useful info around the forums, but no dedicated thread or write up for doing the buttons in LED.
Is there a thread for it where I could find some more detailed info?

A quick search showed me that Midnyteryder196 posted pics of his front door modules partially assembled earlier this year. (search criteria hint ) I thought there were a couple more people that posted, but I didn't find them.

I knew I had read that somewhere...lol I tried looking last night, but that was after I was frustrated after messing up the lights in the rear fan module. I will look again and see what I can find...lol

I must say that so far, with exception of the rear fan controls, it seems pretty smooth. I am really excited to see the front switches and control units lit up in red!!

Glad you've finally got started with your LED mods man. I have to redo all, but 3 door modules, all the LEDs stopped working that I did

Sounds like either cheap LEDs or the incorrect limiting resistor.

It could be either, we used the same on Brandon's TB and I believe his are still good. I did do better soldering on his though. He actually complimented my work and said I seem to be a natural at it lol. I'll check mine today to see what happened.

If I end up going as deep into led mods as you guys I'm most likely going red due to it being far easier on the eyes at night.

i like the red so far, I am just concerned about the cluster. I just dont want to screw that up like I did the rear fan controls.

Mine had those in the rear too. I was glad, didn't have to mess with adding a resistor...
