I agree it's a good price and I've seen them on Youtube and agree they look great. I was just thinking of something else that I'll have to research a little. Thinking (and if BlckShdw or TXBlazer or anyone else has an idea don't hesitate to post it) of a switchback or type of LED that would replace a dual filament bulb where I could have one color for the turn signal, and another color, steady burn, and connect it to the interior light circuit as a puddle light.
I think I'm going to start with the T-10s, and if I decide to go with TXB's mod, I can always swap them to the turn signals or somewhere else.
Autolumination and exLED are the only companies I know that sell a 194 switchback. I used to have the AL ones in my front corners, they are OK, not terribly bright. I haven't seen the exLED versions in person, but they are cob style, so there are multiple chips. Drawback is you have to either buy their switchback module, or build your own, and theirs looks like it would take up a little too much space to be a convenient install for the mirrors.
I have had 2 versions of switchback mirror lights.
First version, which you can see in my power folding mirrors video, was to hack up a pair of female 3157 pigtails so they could fit in the mirror dust caps (which were also Dremeled out) Run a parking light wire from under the steering column (trailer park signal is there) through each door, to the mirrors. Since the switchback logic is self contained in the bulb, made for a relatively easy install.
Second version, and my current setup, is I replaced the bulbs with 5050 switchback strips from iJDMToy. THey have a tiny switchback module inline with the wiring, so just had to connect the 3 wires to the existing wires I already had in place. I removed the dust covers completely, and secured the 12" strips in place with a couple dabs of silicone on the back of the strip at the top of the plastic lens. Don't have any good pics of them directly and up close, but you can see the driver's side here. Same strips that are in the bottom of the headlights. They fit nicely, and end up giving you 4 forward facing LEDs, 1 side facing, and 4 rear facing for both white and amber.
