Police K9 'investigated' for stealing officer's lunch will not face charges
WYANDOTTE, MI (WPDE) — Police took a case very seriously after a theft happened right under their noses.
The Wyandotte Police Dept. in Michigan said it saddened them to report that a current officer had to be investigated for stealing.
Police said Ofc. Barwig was eating in the breakroom when he was called to assist with a person in the jail and swiftly jumped into service leaving his half-eaten lunch on the table. When he returned a short while later with another officer they noticed Ofc. Ice "leisurely strolled" out of the room licking his lips.
"Stealing is not only a crime but it is morally wrong too," police posted on
Facebook. "Some jobs, like that of being a police officer, require you to take an oath prior to starting. Within the officer's sworn oath is the promise to protect a person's property."
An
update provided by police said Ofc. Ice would not face any internal discipline or criminal charges after the department was threatened with massive protests if they move forward with the investigation.
