Were you talking about the TRS Retro-Quiks?

I wasn't, didn't even know they had those! lol

I know Decembersend took the first halo version of TB projectors and retrofitted their D2S 2.0 projectors into them. Quads even.

I found a guy on Instagram from ORTB that does some badass retros, too lazy to look and see what his name was.

Chris Peters. He is in southern IN

Makes me wanna look into getting a retrofit done

I've got new tires, Cooper Discoverer AT3, need some good snow to test them. Like them a lot more than the Goodyears I had before. Not really a mod, even if they are OWL tires. No mods coming for a while, need to heal from spraining my knee and wrist at the same time.
I still love my built trans and the want list is growing. Headlamp assemblies are pretty much past polishing out, left has a small crack. I need fog lights too, we'll see, its a DD for a while and other projects need attention too.

It would be easier to buy if I did not have the 3 spare sets and the new aftermarkets on the truck. I should have gone projectors way back when...

Yeah. That does depend on whether the rig gets parted then. I'm tempted to keep it around as long as it still runs and nothing critical breaks.

I still love your headlights.

I started the process of a retrofit for the Silverado. I purchased Depo headlight housings from Amazon for the foundation. I'm still on the fence whether to get MH1 7.0 projectors or mini D2S square. I don't know which has better output. I like how the square lens on the D2S would fit the truck well, but I don't want to sacrifice light if the MH1 has better output.

Not a whole lot of comparison shots on HID planet, but I did find this thread. Post #88 has a comparison of the MD2S 3.0, MH1 7.0, and FX-R as well. Looking at the pics, it would appear that the MH1 7.0s produce a much wider beam that curves up slightly whereas the MD2S 3.0s beam is shorter and curves down.

MH! 7.0 top, MD2S 3.0 middle, and FX-R 3.0 bottom.

That hot spot on the FXR's is ginormous

Yeah man. I believe the thread noted that the HID in the FX-R projector was running at 55w. My hot spot is no where that big/bright running at 35w.

Time to buy more LEDs, my right headlight corner marker LED and my driver's side Switchback are failing. They both flicker randomly, gonna have to stick with the same seller for the switchback though since he's the only guy who has Super Yellow and not Amber (uughhhhh, yuck).

And I threw out so much old TB parts as well as many fog harnesses and foglights, you'd all slap me for not selling.....sorry, but I had to clear out my storage units and consolidate everything I am keeping into one unit so I know what I have to move with. I still have my old dash bezel, wheels/tires, original headlights with the frog in it lol, and rear bilstein shocks.
And I still have GMT400 parts as well too, just the OEM headlights & tails and aftermarket headlights & tails.

It looks even more mummified now, i'll never part with those headlights

I've pretty much decided on the mini H1 7.0. Priced them out with a new harness for my Silverado's retrofit and it comes in right under $200. Not bad. I'll reuse the ballasts from the TB when the time comes, but I'll put fresh bulbs in. Almost pulled the trigger on the purchase, then thought it'll likely be a while before I retire the TB so I'll hold off a bit to see if TRS runs a sale. Besides, if my retro on the TB is any indication, it'll take me a long time to get these done anyway :rotfl:

Swapped out all of the bulbs in the Mustang today.. The new 5630 194's are crazy bright lol. Gonna run them with the dimmer all the way down but that only dims them like 10%. Thinking about tapping into the lighting circuit and running a pwm dimmer in it to calm it down to whatever degree I desire.

Yaaay LED's, LED's everywhere

I'm out of ideas.....been for a LONG time

I'm thinking of putting green LEDs in two dome lights, diagonally across. To further go off the Green & Blue LED scheme inside. Plus i'm very bored of the blue now...
And of course I gotta get around to doing the door modules again. Only did one green one and half-assed the driver's.

Eventually gonna get around to LED'ing everything in the TB... Eventually.
Well we understand why it hasn't already, you'll get to it slowly but surely bud:2thumbsup:

In due time boss:biggrin:

Been thinking about putting in a new head unit. The tuner on the one that's there sucks and the eq leaves a lot to be desired. Really like the new units with 13 band eqs. I like playing with things.

I got some LED ideas for the Silverado also... Just waiting for the headlight housings to arrive to take some measurements and see if it will all fit or not.

I bet they turn out sweet like your others

If it comes out like I have pictured in my head then yes they should be cool (I hope!). Turns would be much brighter for sure, something my TB's lights were always lacking on and I never got around to taking them all back apart to improve that.

I am glad members take the time to do output comparison shots of projectors on HIDP. Helps to narrow down your choice and see what kind of output you are working with.

:coffee: I did make one mistake, made the leads a couple inches too short, doesn't allow the modules to be tucked easily in the door panels. So will have to fix that, but tested both, and the switchback function works exactly the way I wanted it to.

made the leads a couple inches too short

On 2nd thought, I decided I didn't need the shrink wrap, so I cut those off, and the leads are just long enough to reach in their respective directions. All is now right with the world. I'll do a write up later.

For the cap mod, I found through searching that the capacitor should be 10uf 35v. I liked the idea of an axial lead capacitor, my RadioShack was fresh out of them but had a 22uf 35v cap. Does the uf value really matter in this use? As in would the 22uf capacitor work?

If not I picked up a standard leaded 10uf 35v cap just in case. Just think the axial cap would make for a cleaner install with the leads on the ends.
