I was wanting to get some switchbacks for the Mustang like Nate got but saw those amber bulbs that I got cheap and grabbed them without thinking about it. Day after I bought them I realized I could've bought switchbacks and put my ambers from the Mustang into the trailblazer. Would've still accomplished my goal of leds in the TB but oh well. *facepalm*

Hindsight = 2020

I tried to sell off the ambers to a friend so that I could buy switchbacks and not have the extra set of bulbs but he didn't want them so I put them in the TB.

I want to redo mine. After having my hood open a couple of times at dusk, or after sundown, I realized why the strips were given away so eagerly. :ugh:

Definitely want a warmer temp color for actual useful light.

I like that actually. I just want something for be able to check fluid levels if needed, not to work under. I have magnet and head lamps for that.

I popped the hood of the Silverado to check the oil level last night (and the dang dipstick on that truck is a nuisance), couldn't see squat. It is going to get LED hood lights of some sort.

Finally got around to centering my rear axle. I added 3/8" to the bar by cutting out a 12" inches and welding in a 12 3/8 section. It is perfectly centered now and actually handles much better. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference. I just ordered djm 4" drop shocks for the rear. Hellz yeah

Never even heard of them lol. Hopefully you like them. Djm reminds me of jdm so that itself leaves a foul taste in my mouth lol. Let us know how they go :wooot:

Thanks to Capote's build thread updates, I am wanting new bumpers (again) :duh:

Thanks to 24v 4.2 posting about those SS stock height spring alternatives from Moog, I'm also wanting to drop the rear of my truck to level it (again).

With my speedo stepper motor acting a fool (it almost made it all the way back to 0, but going the wrong way ) and a couple of interior LEDs needing to be replaced, it's reminding me that I've got a half finished retro collecting dust in the back room, and if I'm lucky I'll have them finished within a 12 month span (again). :hissyfit:

Stupid mods!

I don't understand why it is so hard to wash that shit off. I pretty much never want to buff out a vehicle ever again. Just minor blemishes and scratches from now on . It took about 20 hours to get all the oxidation out of that paint. Omg smh

PITA it all is. No more oxidation, but now spots of rubbing compound stuck to random spots throughout

Finally, my turn to photo-whore up this thread!!

Did a mild tear down of my interior. Cluster, DDM, headlight control module, overhead console, HVAC controller. Took the PS3 out of the entertainment center for some emergency open mobo surgery.

Stepper motors, mid swap. These supposedly have a lifetime warranty, hopefully I won't ever have to find out.

HVAC goodness

For some reason when noobs do their LEDs in the door modules, they always ask me what I did with the clear acrylic piece, and I never had pics of it before. Simply drilled holes in it to pass the LEDs through, and to maintain their alignment so I don't have to use tape/glue/etc

20150724_181913.jpg

One of the LEDs on the memo module was out, so fixed that up too.

Then it was time to expand the comfort zone a bit...

20150724_201752.jpg

After watching a few videos, and downloading a PDF, I jumped in, screw driver bits blazing

The thermal paste had been melted, squeezed out, and ran down the motherboard casing. After getting down to the CPU and GPU, I used my heat gun to try to reflow the solder. Put it half back together and tried it, no dice. Decided to not be so careful and try again. I held the heat gun too far away, and for too short of periods the first time. Partial reassembly and test was successful. Was able to eject my game, boot up, and run a system scan.

That's when I figured out what the real problem was. The massive cooling fan wasn't running. Ran my hand over it, and it was pretty hot after just a few minutes. Left the case off, put my desk fan behind it, and played for about an hour with no issues. So that means time to source a working cooling fan for a gen 1 fat PS3, this should be an adventure.... :ugh: Now it's time for SLEEP!! : :Zzzz:

I've done that surgery so many times on my PS3 years ago I became very fast at it lol. Worked for a few weeks, then it'd get the YLOD again and have to re-do it

That's what I'm afraid of, most everything i read online said the same thing, it was just temporary, and eventually it will fail again. Right now there's only 1 game I play that's not on the PS4, it's a F2P/P2W game, and the chatter is the game is on it's last legs before getting it's plug pulled. So when my PS3 boots the bucket for good, I'll probably step up to a PS4

From my experience, it'll work for 1-2 weeks before you need to do that again. It'll become such a nuisance you'll eventually say eff this. I still have my old 80gig backwards compatible PS3. It's rare even though it doesn't work. Still cool to hang on to, good memories.

At that frequency, that will get pretty annoying if I'm playing a lot. Mine was the old 60GB model, upgraded the HDD to a 320GB pretty quickly. Much mo' betta.

Carlton you are gonna hate me but....this may help with your ps3 problems...combine this with a used 19 blade older ps3 fan if you have the 15 blade version.. A quick search on google netted me a decent guide to help with what you are dealing with.

:undecided: Actually, I'm not mad at that at all. I was looking at some auxiliary fan options earlier this weekend, but they don't direct air where it's needed. This intrigues me.

This morning I was playing, forgot to turn on my desk fan, and the PS3 shut down after half an hour. When I got it back up again, I could hear the fan spinning, just not at a high speed, so I'm guessing that sensor mentioned in the ad has gone bad. Something like this would be just what I need. Let the fan run at high speed all the time IDGAF, I can turn the volume up on the sound system

Random thought here, but are the taillight harnesses accessible behind the rear panels?

Only non LED bulbs on the outside of the TB are the brake/turn bulbs. If I happen to get bulbs that don't have a good dim to high brightness ratio then I could implement some pwm dimmers inside the cab (they're not waterproof) like I did on the Mustang and even possibly do the quad brake mod with the dimmers if I put diodes on the brake and turn wires to keep them from back feeding when one is used without the other. Will have to consult Brandon's quad brake thread to see what wire has to be changed to let the brake light flash as well.

-from briefly consulting said thread I got confused about how to make the turn socket work as dual brightness but then remembered I'd already figured that out on the Mustang. Pretty much what you do with the dimmer is hook it's output up to the high wire of each socket you want to manipulate and then it can do low and high through the one wire.

Good idea lol. I'd probably put it behind the taillight if I went that route because it'd be a huge pita to get to the wires from underneath and be able to tap them as I'm assuming they're up in there pretty far.

-for anyone needing a pwm dimmer and don't wanna make your own, these are what I used and work great. Had one DOA but they sent me another pair with no questions asked.

http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/catalog/product/view/id/22242/s/2a-led-pwm-dimmer-with-bypass-pair/

I took the failed one apart and they use a 555 timer which is what most DIY dimmers call for you to use anyways.

Tail light harnesses come inside the cabin through the D pillars.
