On the bright side you'll have a nice clean window, new decal for top of windshield, and the tint
........no, just no.....HARDTRAILZ said:Or go demolition derby style n chicken wire in place of glass
Did you do the headliner?Capote said:I know, but it's easier to just look for SS interior items because they are always black. Instead of sifting through tons of mostly grey stuff
Mine was grey until I painted or dipped everything black. Only got seats, dash, & center console left
Gotcha. Just assumed the prices would be higher since it was "SS parts".Capote said:I know, but it's easier to just look for SS interior items because they are always black. Instead of sifting through tons of mostly grey stuff

Negative, that'd be like the last thing on the to-do list brotherBlazingTrails said:Did you do the headliner?

The OS is the dark side. Modding is the good side I like the idea of using GMC in place of the rear handle. You would be the first from what I have seen. You could easily mount in the same holes, but you larger bolts. Maybe make some billet spacers to space the logo out from the glass to use as a handleAManders6 said:Haven't fed my mod bug enough on the Voy that I'm beginning to think of all the parts i could custom design, build, and machine for it. Exactly what I was thinking. I did a rough sketch of an idea I had for my buddy who broke his truck handle and asked if I could make something to replace it. That is what got me thinking about mine and doing something differentdmanns67 said:The OS is the dark side. Modding is the good side I like the idea of using GMC in place of the rear handle. You have finally seen the light young grasshopper You might be happy with 5K. Over time as the electrodes wear they will look like 6k soon enough. Never seen 7k though.Capote said:Definitely thinking of getting 6k or 7k HIDs. 14% tint + no light poles in the battalion parking lot + 12K's = too many close calls
At 12k, they are just a little brigher than standard halogens. If you want pure white, go with 5K. You will see a huge improvement over the 12Ks.Capote said:Mine are aimed down a bit so I never had any complaints or people flash their lights at me. Cops don't bother me either.
I'm just jealous now of some guy's in my battalion that run white as hell HIDs, and I'm tired if not being able to see out my drivers side window when there are no lights when it's dark
Yeah I was aware of the output being poor back when I had 10K's and then 12K's. I just liked the color more. But as of late my night vision had deminished a lot and glare really blinds me at night now. So it's time to be more safe than run high temp HIDsdmanns67 said:At 12k, they are just a little brigher than standard halogens. If you want pure white, go with 5K. Nice. I like the solid design better. Since you are a tool and die maker I am sure you have access to the CNC machines needed. We have a nice tool room here, but most of our equipment is manual machines other than the Servo.AManders6 said:Extra rough sketch of the handle for my buddy's Silverado cap. It will come a lot further once I can measure and layout some stuff for him
Yep, I can get my hands on all sorts of fun machines. I spend most of my time running a CNC knee mill, but we have CNC bed mills, multiple types of lathes, boring mills, industrial grinders, welding equipment, and a paint booth. We make some cool stuff. I like the idea of machining the handle out of a solid chunk of aluminum, it would be more rigid. I could then tap holes for screws to mount from the inside.dmanns67 said:Nice. With the amount of aluminum I have laying around, I could make quite a few of them once I have a definitive design ironed out, tested, and what notdmanns67 said:Excellent idea. Maybe you could see if there is any interest, if it works out, and sell them to members on the forum. This might be a good idea for the 3D printer thread, but he would need a completed sample.
What temp are yours? No offense, but I don't like the temp you run... Not white enoughBlazingTrails said:I am so proud [emoji23]
Depending on cost and design I would be interested in this.AManders6 said:With the amount of aluminum I have laying around, I could make quite a few of them once I have a definitive design ironed out, tested, and what not

Never knew you were planning on doing a retro. You talking about blacking out the plastic pieves behind the lens or the reflector bowls?Capote said:Lol hater, I still love the color, but my night vision is getting bad now... So I have to get white colored HIDs for my sake
I don't think I'm gonna get a retrofit anymore...but I would like to blacken the housing instead of it being that dull grey and have white reflectors instead of amber, pretty much like MAY03LT has his
Was gonna have Ryan do one for me. The plastic frame behind the lenses. Why would I paint the bowls? That wouldn't make sense unless there were projectors in themdmanns67 said:Never knew you were planning on doing a retro. Correct, but he's been swamped so I figure I would lessen his retrofit projectsMounce said:He's been wanting a retro from Ryan.
