so who still uses the old site?

Dozens of us got banned. Most of them also had their posts removed in a few days of terror. Vertical Scope knew my posts contained a lot of the value of the site and a massive amount of Google-bait. So they couldn't nuke my posts. They just made it impossible for me to log in. And then dozens of folks saw that I was BANNED and said WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?! So VS had to come up with another lie as to why I wasn't there. So they invented the coy phrase "No longer with us" as if I had sold the truck or died. There are others with valuable posts with that status.

We are using other countermeasures to mitigate their perfidy. Those can't be discussed in public.

Gotcha! I read MANY of your posts there before I noticed "no longer with us" and I also had a wtf moment. I joined there last year so I'm sure you were already well banned and "dead."

Wow, seeing that list was nostalgic. Reminds me of the days when the mid atlantic peeps were doing 6 meets a year. Trailvoy hasn't had a single meet since we left nearly 2 1/2 years ago.

So you got banned? Your account is the only one I've seen with the "no longer with us" status.
They're there. My old Trailvoy account says "no longer with us".

Thankfully, I hosted the pictures for a how to over there on Flickr. So when I was banned, I was able to take the pictures down.

Better still is to change them to read something like I've been doing. Add a note to the picture: "Trailvoy is a bunch of greedy SOBs. Come to GMTNation.com. Rob Laidlaw sucks donkey balls"

I don't know if that can be done on Flickr. It's hilarious how you've been able to do that with the pictures you hosted on your website.

I'm still waiting to run across one of those special pictures..especially the dog taking a shit. I bet that's golden.

I just now saw that I quoted the wrong person. I meant to quote MAY03LT about the pictures.

Edit: I actually quoted the right person (Roadie) just when I read that post I thought it was MAY because I'd seen him talk about doing stuff like that before. My bad guys, been up 26 hours and my wires are getting crossed.

So I went to the other site looking for some wire harness pics and I stumbled across a thread that looked familiar. It was posted there and crossposted here. Our buddy here didn't get a single reply.

So this brings me to asking all the peeps that hate this site - what happened here? Not one single reply? Not even a guess? Nothing?

I just can't friggin believe that the same guys who give us shit for talking about this site over there don't even try to take care of their fellow members. We're the bad guy for pointing noobs in the direction of the community that made that site what it was (and never will be again) but at the same time stuff like this happens. Wow.

I used to put up pics like this in this thread but kinda let it go after the point was made. Here we are two years later and it's still going on. If there's any reason to join us, this is the best reason.

That is sad there is no one to help and even more annoying when their members call us spammers and bash GMTNation. Like you said, we are trying to help the new members by pointing them in the right direction and letting them know there are other forums out there. Google is the main reason I joined the OS to begin with, I am sure I am not the only one.

I am not surprised the tech threads are not answered. Check out the pic below of the recent intro threads. 50-300 views and maybe one or two responses. If the current members cannot welcome a new member to the site, it would be hard to expect for them to answer tech threads

So there are a couple of old-timers back there who shouldn't be contacted. Unrecruitable cranks. Shills have been banned after hitting one of these toxic souls. One who joined in Nov 2010 just replied to a PM with such a tirade I've never had such a hoot reading: :rotfl:

I came across a lot of immature, rude a-holes around that time and that "Roadie" fellow was the epitome of them all. Come to think of it most of the old moderators had some pretty severe character flaws as well. Really rude, insecure kids on some internet power trip. I think the new owners and the old members were a perfect fit. They should all rent a bus and drive it off a cliff.
Nothing personal but that's how I feel.

Something tells me he wouldn't fit in with us here....or ANY civilized forum. And if he thinks I'm a rude, insecure kid on an internet power trip....well, he doesn't know me at all. I'm a rude, confident crankshaft on an internet power trip. And if he tried to set up an account here he'd get denied. So there, nyah, nyah. :raspberry:

I'm curious how many gmtnation new members are recruited new members from Trailvoy.
I agree. Could 10 of the 27, possibly more, up and leave to come here while waiting for assistance?

I just registered here because it was so dead. Like creepy dead. I had more replies from "smart" spam artists. Seems like there is zero spam control from admins - which apparently don't exist? I was steered here by a lurking straggler member; just registered here today. Glad to see actual activity.

Welcome! The profit-mongering business model of Vertical Scope forces their paid forum babysitters in Toronto (they call admins) to monitor 50-70 forums EACH for signs of discontent and jailbreaks like the one we ran to escape their clutches. It took them over three days to notice we were leaving, and to run their damage control playbook. Of course they have a damage control playbook - they buy up and piss off dozens of forums a year.

50-70 forums per paid admin means they spend under 5 minutes a day looking in. And there are ZERO volunteers for the unpaid jobs back there, so yes - the spammers run around unmolested. Bad technical advice gets posted. New member posts inthe Introductions forum get ignored.

How do they stay in business then? I wonder if the advertising alone from the unknowing-browsers covers the purchase and maintenance costs.

Serious bummer that people are not answering questions much anymore.
His words, not ours. Since he posted this and then complained about getting referred here, he is fair game.

Would you quit private messaging and posting on every post that people should come to your site!
LOL. I can guarantee you that if you do join here, you will never get a reply from me. Good luck with the whole textbook technician thing you got going on. You know what happens to textbook technicians in a shop? They sell their toolboxes on craigslist and talk about how they used to turn wrenches.

For a knowledgeable person with relevant assistance, it takes 3 minutes to find the actual keywords that bring up the subject one has in mind and yield an actual legitimate URL that is helpful. But it only takes 20 seconds to post a promotional message.
Thank you Professor for telling people how to help. FYI, you have no idea what you're talking about. When you type every reply from scratch, it takes more then three minutes. Especially when you reference the service information and do a quick analysis of the symptoms and read through their posting history to find if there were ever any related symptoms in the past before you make your first reply. If you copypaste roadie replies, you might get 'er done in under three. But everyone will know that you're a fraud. I had a joke about "20 seconds" but we're a family friendly site so use your imagination.

On the other site, the organization/labeling needs help. The label of GMT360/370/305 Platform may benefit a Saab owner....and blah blah blah blah
This is the same kind of fartknocker that would critique my youtube content. "I would have done this different" or "I didn't like that" or "You should upgrade to HD video." It's easy to say what you would do from the comfort of your couch but when you don't produce anything yourself you should just shut your pie hole.

I can only imagine Jmans to-do list for the site. He deserves a standing ovation for what he's done.

**puts on devil's advocate hat again**

From his tone, I don't think that fact matters. If you nag someone hard enough, long enough, they won't care what your point is, they will resist at their own detriment, just to not give you the satisfaction of being right. I believe that's what happened there.

Need more laser targeting, less carpet bombing IMO.

Lol thanks for dealing with them midnyte, I'd been asleep all day and hadn't seen their hissyfit.

I mean, hell, if you don't want help, that's fine. I (Garth) used to be just like that if y'all remember but I eventually gave y'all a chance and I'm pretty happy to be here instead of there.

They mentioned something about people posting things in the wrong place here because they don't understand the sections of the site.. Well, here, we have mods that will clean things up for us and move our threads to the right place but on the OS you're stuck with your mistakes.

"Dude, a Snap-On tool? Really? Why not get out of the Dark Ages, Mac is where it's at. Did you know the Mac wrench heads multiply your torque by a factor of 7? I bet you didn't, Snap-On is so Wal-Mart. Since you don't use my brand of tools, I am going to hit the dislike button now.

And what's with this Tech 2 crap? They seem overpriced to me. I have a U480 that can read codes and all that, too. I bet you didn't expect that, huh? I'm going to hit dislike, then I'm going to log into my shill account, and dislike you again for trying to make me think that a Tech 2 is superior to my U480 code reader for use on the TrailBlazer. Lying butthole!"
