Reality thread...continued.

So you may have noticed I was missing for the last few days. Well, I've been in the hospital and still am. Came on to emergency on Saturday night for internal bleeding. Needed two blood transfusions, bunch of tests, scans and all and no definitive answer as to where it was coming from but my blood thinner is likely to blame, which was stopped that same night. Bleeding is stopped for now and I don't fear for my life anymore but the thrombosis and gastroenterology depts need to talk to each other to see where to go from here.

This whole thing was hard on my wife. She had just flown out to Vancouver to work at the FIFA tournament the same day this happened and had to come back the next day.

I may be discharged tomorrow.
:wowfaint: WTH ... despite the scare at least you are ok now

My 12 hours trip to emerg went ok I guess. Lab work and ultrasounds to dispel any clots and I'm on antibiotics. They're working so far as my hand doesn't look so much like Shrek's anymore but it's going down slowly. Just can't do a lot with that hand right now.

The IV was inserted correctly and disinfected many times before insertion. I think the problem was that it was on the side of the left wrist that allowed too much movement. When I had iron pumped through it, it leaked out a little from the IV port and it was already irritated but the nurse didn't want to stop it and have to restart it in another new port. I had two other infections like it in my right hand before that were also inserted near the wrist which were also removed before they got worse.

Anyway, looking forward to getting this healed and going back to work on Monday hopefully.

Shit @Mooseman I hope you get better. 10 years ago we had easy access to great doctors, now, after mass migration, it's nearly impossible to get the time of day after hours wait at an ER.

As for us, my 83 year old dad is undergoing some trials to get him into a care facility. His dementia has really progressed. Hopefully he'll stay in the same small town he's from and has lived at for decades. Would make life better for my mom. My 3 older brothers are all getting together next weekend to help out. It socks as my dad was a great man and a great father, one that you'd be lucky have. Now, he vaguely knows there is some sort of connection but he cannot remember. He also is having issues, one would call them PTSD. He did 27 years with the RCMP and retired 32 years ago. He rarely spoke about his service but some of his plaques, crests etc would trigger him. He'd get very angry and talk about how some people were good but some were not very good.
