I hit one on I-90 going from Batavia to Syracuse about 8yrs ago. I was doing 65mph (close to it). It came bounding from the left and by the time I saw it bam to late. A guy in a merc pulled over and said "wow that was close". I turned, looked at him then looked at the front of my dodge van, then looked back at him and said yeah real close. I drove away from that one and around for a few days before my company got a quote for the repair. This was only 2 weeks into my job8 years later today and I have the same job still
Must have been just that day for deer, the Sheriff that did the report told me that Geneva PD had 2 inside a buisness downtown causing a mess, meanwhile I did the mess making at the other end of town

Yeah, well, I'd rather grab my Nikon D70 or D300, but you can't always reach behind the seat, open the camera bag, set to live preview (not on my D70), pull the lens cap off, and get the right shot like you can by reaching into your shirt pocket for an instant shot. I like Lightroom as well. Works pretty well with RAW files.
Oh, sorry. truck. Actually, it's an Envoy, so it's BETTER truck (says another Envoy owner)!
And I'm sorry to hear about the Canon.
