Unless you're tuned for it... why? Just flushing money down the drain (or pump)dmanns67 said:I have always ran 93 since the day I bought the TB. Got quite expensive when gas jumped to $4.35 a gallon.
Not initially, but it is tuned now for 93.Sparky said:Unless you're tuned for it... why? Just flushing money down the drain (or pump)
I'm goverment and management but at the level where we still get overtime, next level up is hour for hour then next level up from there is nothing.HARDTRAILZ said:Or govt...no paid overtime there
Carlton said that he had his TB tuned for 93, but then changed it to 87. I think the only thing he mentioned that changed was the amount of money in the bank account.Sparky said:Next TB I get is gonna get a tune. Probably still for 87 unless there is a really compelling reason to go to 89 or 91.

Sometimes I think of maybe getting another (NON RUSTY) 2002 TB that has a blown engine/trans for dirt cheap and just plopping mine into it. Maybe freshening the engine up a bit before doing so (new gaskets, inspect/replace bearings if they are showing any signs of wear, etc). Probably crazy and bad idea... maybe.
Don't know. But at only using less than a quart every 10k miles that's pretty good sign the rings and cylinder walls are still in good shape.mcsteven said:
100k or less I'd say sure. Or if it was handed to you. Sure. But how many miles would you really expect out of that motor?
Hey now, that's meanmcsteven said:Well, I guess then it would depend on how many miles per year you put on the car. But don't forget the motor is under less strain since rusted off parts make it lighter.
