22.5mpg was 100% highway at 55mph to 65mph with the cruise control on, windows down, and AC off. My TB was completely stock then. The 18-18.5mpg that I get now is 80% highway and 20% city. Speed varies on highway from 55mph to 80mph. Thats with a K&N intake system, intake res delete, exhaust res delete, and tune.

I am still rocking the K&N filter, I have yet to go green. I doubt the filter will make that big of a difference though in terms of mpg.

Thought you may have jumped on the green filter bandwagon back a few months ago. I have just the K&N filter and everthing else is stock. I have decided the next time I have nothing going on during a Friday night, I'm cutting the trash can off the back. MPGs are similar to yours so I dont feel like I'm missing a tune. The Mazda takes care of my adrenaline needs more than the TB does.

Should I cut the resonator right at the can or just past the hook/hanger? Someday soon...

When i did the Res delete on my Trailblazer i opted to have the pipe and tip cut off off flush at each end of the resonator and the old tip was welded back onto the straight piece of pipe that replaced the resonator...doing things this way allowed the rear factory hanger to be retained.

This pic was taken less then an hour after it was done so you can see where the cut was made on the factory piping..

Cool, thanks for the pic. I was originally planning on chopping the thing off and leaving as is until it drove me crazy like the kid who is shaking the can of marbles in my resonator now. The sound it makes in the garage on startup is quite the note maker.

Seeing your pic makes me want to just go to the shop and drop some cash on a tip. Might replace the cat all the way back but I do not feel that is necessary yet. Oh the problems of life...:rotfl:

No problem man. What i like about my set up is that it almost looks factory now that it has rusted to match the rest of the piping. About the only exhaust related parts that are still stock on my truck are the Cat, header and the pipes. I got the Res delete and muffler done at the same time.

I just lopped the can off mine and left it at that. No pipe extension, no tip, just the pipe ends right after the hangar. Good enough for me
