I dont believe it from my own experience. People say a multitude of things. Some say my locker will make my truck wreck and roll over killing a busload of nuns in snow, but I have no issue with handling.

Yeah, me either. I get the concept of having a wider tire provides more traction on a dry surface which is the reason why race cars or drag cars use a wide tire.

The same goes for AT/offroading tires. Most of the ones I have seen are 255 and wider. Offroading in mud would be a definition of a slippery condition, but when people talk about snow its like the same does not apply.

Basically from what I have read it appears that if you have a wider tire with more surface area you have more of a chance to lose traction than say a tire that is 235 wide. The consensus seems to be a wider tire is better in every condition except for snow which I do not understand.

Just like with everything else on the internet, I have read mixed opinions. Some say wider is better in slipper conditions and others disagree.

Its like I said in a subsequent post... They say its the pressure per square inch, but I do not buy it for the reasons I stated.
