Hi. I have a faulty transfer case
The 4wd I already dead and front axle and shafts was removed years ago.
Now the transfer case is making a high noise. Going higher on higher speeds.
Then how to remove it completely? Is the 2wd 460le had the transfer case and same parts?
I need any advise please. Thanks

Or go to a transmission shop that can swap the output shaft and tail. You will also need a 2wd driveshaft, which is longer, or get one custom made. 2wd are rare so custom is probably the only way to go.

FYI, even if you remove the front driveshaft and axles and/or don't use 4wd, you still have to service the transfer case by replacing the fluid every 50k miles.

Maybe, link?

Don't forget about the driveshaft.

Thats really only worth while if you are rebuilding the tranny.. You got to take the entire thing apart to replace the thru shaft.

The simpler, and cheaper, option is to replace/rebuild the transfer case. Otherwise you are going to have to replace the driveshaft, plus the transmission related stuff.

That's right. We all forgot to mention that the trans has to come out and be totally taken apart. If getting that far into it, likely the shop will recommend a rebuild.

Just replace the transfer case. Easier and cheaper.
