I have never completely removed the panel but enough to access the rear HVAC unit. It`s a fairly simple affair, a few screws and undoing it from under another trim piece and you can move it out of the way enough to get to it.

If you wait long enough, the noise will eventually go away when the gears get completely worn away

Dude. Harsh. Hurts, bro.. the feels.

Patience is a virtue. It's pretty late for most of the country. Cool thine jets.

But yeah, wait it out man, it's a little early to decide that there is no one here to help you. I assure you that this is the best place to get help. Btw, Welcome to the Nation!!! :tiphat:

Welcome! A beautiful 5AM on the west coast.

There is an Article on this site, showing the process. Can't explain why it didn't show up in a search.I used the magic Google phrase "trailblazer ext removing rear hvac panel site:gmtnation.com"

http://gmtnation.com/forums/topic/2079-rear-hvac-blower-control-module-replacement/

I don't have an EXT, but from reading things, I seem to remember the seat belt bolt are about the only fasteners that aren't simple pull-off clips. The seat belt bolt require Torx drivers, so if you don't have a good set, it's a good excuse to buy them now.

Watch out when you pull the actuator off. I broke one of the shafts on mine. They are just flimsly plastic. Fortunatly there was just enough of the shaft left for the actuator to still work. A lot of members have broken them clean off.
