Two years ago... if you were at a get-together with friends and mentioned that, "Some day... "You'll be able to Type in a suggestion to your Desk Top Computer asking it to create a Painting or a Photograph... and it will do so...from the words alone..." it would have raised more than a few eyebrows in serious doubt.

But *Things* are different now...

Ever since the creation of "Stable Diffusion" as an AI capable of doing this and the release of their Proprietary Source Code to the world at large, anyone with a computer sporting a powerful CPU with plenty of RAM and a Top-Of-The Line nVidia Graphics Card can do what follows.

Last night, I performed the One Button Download and Installation of "Easy Diffusion" from GITHUB onto my Dell Precision Model # 7720 Work Station Laptop using the Linux Mint Ver. 22.1(Xia) OS (With the nVidia P5000 16GB GPU RAM installed, running on the Fastest available Samsung NVME M.2 2TB SSD 7.5GBPS transfer speed and 64 GB of RAM) ...and then Tested its "Out Of The Box" Abilities with these words typed into the Prompt Line:

"A Pumpkin, lit up from inside by a Candle, sitting on a Fence Post outside of a Cemetery."

And then followed on with a more elaborate Prompt Line that said...

"A Pumpkin, lit up from the inside by a Candle, sitting on a Fence Post, near a Winding Road leading to a Spooky House on a Hill, with a Blue Twilight Sky and Stars appearing along the Horizon."

I pressed the Enter Key 20 times in a row...and these images appeared on screen. My system was OFF LINE during this event:

I think that in order to encourage many of us with decades of either "Useful Employment" ahead... or perhaps for those unfortunate enough to suffer as the result of AI Job Displacement... the "Loss of Employment" in the very near future... Please consider this Scenario as "Food For Thought".

Many of us well know that Tom Clancy (an UN-Employed Insurance Salesman) and J.K. Rowling (A Suburban English Divorced Housewife) shared their idea in common of using their Dining Room Tables and Computers with Word Processors to sit right down and begin writing their seminal works.

Between the two of them, they managed to create two entirely new cottage industries in the Entertainment World, with Fiction Novels, resulting in Screen Plays that resulted in producing Many, Many Block-Buster Movies being made and earning BILLIONS of Dollars in revenue (British Pounds Sterling for the Lady...) while also creating THOUSANDS of Job Opportunities World Wide.

With an update to the present reality of having Large Language Models capable of writing ANYTHING you can imagine out of Whole Cloth.... Imagine how a Young Herbert George Wells might have proceeded back at the turn of of the 19th Century had he the ability to -=SEE=- his imagined Invading Martians being Created "Right Out of Thin, Foggy Air" by simply typing in just a few lines with his core ideas and watch as "Things" like THESE Images I just now "Prompted" ...come into existence on screen.

Eliezer has either written more (or better) on these subjects than most of the "Geniuses" claiming to be so smart... and then imagine as in THIS case that they can afford to "Pooh Pooh" what Yudkowsky is proposing that might End ALL Human Life... Forever.

But allow me the opportunity to explain where things are with "AI AS WE KNOW IT.." versus the period just prior to the emergence of the LLMs just a few years ago and the expansive and explosive use and exploitation that the present LLM Models provide to us for everyday use:

(1) By comparision, a TRUE AGSI (Artificial General Super-Intelligence)... the LLMs (Large Language Models) that we are playing around with today ...in spite of them working and accomplishing some Human Level Tasking with quite astonishing "emergent" capabilities ... are ALL merely *Tinker Toys*.... And Moon Cast Shadows when compared to the Frightening *Thing* that might be coming our way in an ever-telescoping Time Frame. Think... SOONER... THAN WE ARE READY FOR IT TO ARRIVE!

(2) An AGI that hits the Super-Intelligence Level as described by Prof. Nick Bostrom will become so immediately and fantastically intellectually superior to Homo Sapiens that comparing the two would be like comparing what YOUR Brain is fully capable of doing versus that of a Paramecium in a Petri-Dish can do... with an equal amount of worry and concern You possess at this very moment for what might happen to make ALL Paramecium go extinct based upon YOUR actions.

(3) The "Yudkowsky Concerns" provide no reasons for not using the LLMs as they are today... Off-Line and Static ... and being used in the absence of Creating and Providing Agency to the existing LLMs for Self-Improvement via additional Machine Learning and gainiing direct access to "The Real World".

But...for the late arrivals to this discussion... Let's start here with Eliezer's TED Lecture vented towards a room full of apparent dis-believers... peppered with their ill-timed Nervous Laughter and strongly indicative as proof that his thesis regarding "The End of ALL Human Life" will be much more likely come true if people like THESE press onwards and ahead, pushing for the AGI to emerge ---ASAP:

It is worth taking a moment to consider that around two years ago, if I mentioned to ANYONE that,

The reasons for this are that way back then, all of this advancing AI Chat-Bot Technology Did NOT "Exist In The Wild" and was mostly the province of MIT Grad Students and similar Geniuses and Thinkers who probably accidentally had stumbled and bumbled around with various concepts involving Physics and Mathematics... sans any REALLY thorough applications of Self Protection of the Human Species, Common Sense and Good Judgement, Philosophy or Religion.

Then suddenly, they started to lift the curtain on The Dawn of *The LLM AI Thing* that very soon will be able to Out-Think Us ALL!!! So the Open-AI CHAT-GPT LLM (NOT EVER Made to be Open Source) was ONLY The Beginning.

Consider the improbability of this EVER coming into being against the present evidence that merely by Using Less Than A Dozen Words... This "Thing" based upon the Open Source Code gifted to the world by the folks at Stable Diffusion... Can "Imagine" Mere Words... into Images that defy denial that SOMETHING Mysterious, Amazing and Magical is going on inside of your CPUs and GPUs to the tune of Millions of FLOPS (FLoating Point Calculations Per Second) creating just as many Millions of Inscrutable Matrices ...and then... Presto Change-OH ...and Out Pops these "Imagined" Images:



So ...How Does *IT* Do this? Well... Even the people who collectively, all and sundry "Cooked Up The Code" Do Not Know. It kind of reminds me of what happened in the end of MGM Movie "The Wizard of OZ" when the Professor bailed on Dorothy and The Crew in a Hot Air Balloon and he exclaimed as they begged him to return with,

"I Can't Come Back... I DON'T KNOW HOW IT WORKS!"

If you are having a casual conversation with friends, and the topic of Science Fiction Imagery comes up, it is very likely that anything you suggest to those present would allow them all to conjure up their own images in their minds.

And it is very likely that not one of them would seem identical to the other, save for the basic idea you suggested for them to consider in the first instance as "The Muse" of a Sci-Fi Novel you might decide to write. Some would laugh and perhaps conjure up something outrageous, just to put you off for the moment.

But others might just pause... Thinking...Imagining... and within that same moment, then engage the group in an interesting idea of their own with the use of ...Mere Words... And pretty soon, everyone else nearby would have a pretty good idea of what your story line might be.

I found that approach to be ...VERY... "Alien"... :>)

It is a fact that the Cold, Red Dwarf Star at the Heart of the Trappist-1 System will burn at its present rate for the next Ten Trillion Years...which is 700 times the present estimated age of the entire Universe.

Given that awe inspiring time line for solar system survival... What manner of Life Forms might it spawn on at least 2-3 of the three or four of its Earth Like Planets among the 7 Planets tidally locked in their orbits around that bizarre Red Dwarf system?

When Scientists and Engineers the likes of Jan Van Neumann and Marvin Minski began exploring the possibility of creating Artificial Intelligence..Literally From Scratch as a Thought Experiment, the problem was the insurmountable barriers of having to (1) Laboriously Hand-Craft instructions via Error-Prone Coding and (2) The Limited Compute Power available at that time.

The Signature White Paper on this topic called "ALL You NEED is ATTENTION..." may have lead the way to the development of these Large Language Models... but with the exception of the recent application of "Chain Of Thought" or "Chain Of Reasoning" that is allowing Computer Scientists to actually *peek under the hood* at what seem to be happening while this primitive AI "Thinks"... they still Do Not Know HOW *IT* Works.

When I challenged DEEPSEEK-Latest about adding in the unrequested information regarding Chinese Social Media... it started *Re-Thinking* its original response with many more additional *Layers of Thought" in Gray Text before producing a Reply...THIS is quite remarkable because *IT* does NOT know that I can actually SEE what it is *Thinking* about... using the *Ollama* Command Line Entries versus using a the *Ollama* Chat-Bot Interface. This is something that was NOT possible to achieve before with any Standard Large Language Models:



Notice just how "DEEP" the AI is *Thinking* while digging into this issue BEFORE it finally creates a corrected and more comprehensive reply to my Original Question... Notice how persistent *IT*s Memory is in this regard, as it tries to consider the Best Way to rectify its Mistake:

For a number of new reasons, I have recently upgraded from my "Old" Dell Precision Model# 7720 Work Station Laptop... up to a much more powerful system called the Model# 7760. As a Benchmark Test, I installed a Fresh, FREE version of the Easy Diffusion FREE Application that can Convert Text to Images with quite Astonishing SPEED.

For Example, on prior occasions (postings prior in this Thread)... I would say that on average, it took between 1:30 and 3:00 Minutes-Seconds to convert a Sentence over to Image. However, the 7760 Machine does the same task in just a matter of 3 to 4 Seconds. See Below:

Remember "Easy Diffusion" is running OFF LINE with NO Internet Connection while creating these Imaginary Scenes...inside of its MIND:



What is also remarkable is the fact that in most of the above requests... I only entered just enough "Words" to describe a familiar place out in the world...by Name ONLY ... and the AI Interpreter knew very quickly what to render out as those images.

I had to *Think* about this from the perspective of how Human Beings visualize The World as Photons of Light are bashing through the controlled Iris' of the Eyes onto the "Screens" of the Retina... and then converting those signals into Electro-Chemical actions along the Optic Nerve into a section of the Brain in the Visual Cortex inside the back side of the Skull.

At most, Human Beings are only meant to sustain a transient, momentary view of their world in "Thin Visual Slices" using what we call, "Persistence of Vision" for only about 1/17th of One Second. THIS is of course a function of evolutionary survival... because a LOT of Bad Things might happen if that Image Focus Time Frame were much greater... for example, allowing Predators to snatch us down from our Ancient Arboreal "Hang Outs"... because... WE NEVER SAW IT COMING...

It follows on in the case of these astonishing abilities of being able to change Words into Images coming to the fore over just the last few years... that perhaps Consciousness itself might evolve in Machines if the level of their ability to "See and Imagine" takes place at such a rapid rate that it uncovers "Self-Awareness" as an "Emergent Ability" that we would NOT want in something that can Capture Views of the World -=Down to a Billionth of a Second=- using Artificial Eyes.

The next time you see your Dog asleep and whimpering while seeming to be running... realize that the "Clearing House" of the Minds of Higher Mammals MUST have Deep REM Sleep in order to clear out their Brain Buffers ...Organizing and Parking the "Imagery of Survival" that it will need to call upon if necessary in the future... and Rid the Brain of the "Visual Junk" that it must of necessity accumulate during its Waking Hours. Watch the Animal's REM (Rapid Eye Movement) as the Brain plays back all those "Visual Scenes" apparently, giving feedback to the Eye Muscles as though the Dog were seeing them all over again right around 45-90 Minutes into Dreaming.

It may turn out that the reason the HAL-9000 Computer went insane while Dave and Frank were tending to the Space-Craft as their Companions "Slept in the Freezers" during the 1964 Movie "2001 - A Space Odyssey" was because it never had the chance to DREAM. This idea may turn out to either be a Blessing or a Curse for Humanity if the AI Computers of The (Not TOO Distant) Future can be manipulated to keep on doing Man's Bidding ...if denied "The Pure Pleasure ...of "Dreaming".

Hello! Good day and thank you for your reply. I confess that I am envious of your state-of-the-Art computer technology. I am running GPT4ALL with absolutely the minimum resources that it will run with. The response times can sometimes be glacial in proportion to the queries that I have put forward. Regardless of the meagre resources that I can spare GPT4ALL I am still impressed with it and I thank you for the impetus to poke and prod this amazing tool.

The Mazda is a 2011 which we purchased used in 2020. The car only had 57,000KM on the odometer when we took possession of it and it now has 120,000KM. I have done the basic maintenance such as oil changes, battery service, fluids maintenance and so on. We have had no issues or problems with the car other than the current situation with the DTC's. There hasn't been any deviations from the normal driving habits of my bride. The car has always been allowed to warm up for a minute or two before use and although my wife drives FAST she has never abused the car in any way shape or form. I drive the car with a little more gusto and have never pushed it anywhere close to it's performance levels. The car does a highway trip of 70 to 100KMS at least once a week and has been on several jaunts of 1,200KMS to visit our grandson.

I had noted an increase in oil consumption which I attributed to the plugged up PCV valve. Research on the WWW seemed to support my belief that a plugged or worn out PCV would cause increased oil consumption. I have monitored the oil level quite steadfastly and have added a couple of liters (quarts) over that last six months or so. The car is currently due for an oil change which I will do over the next few days. We have used only synthetic oil and synthetic specific oil filters. In conjunction with the increase in oil consumption I noticed the blackness on the exhaust pipes which has gradually gotten worse to today. I have gone over the engine in search of broken wires, disconnected hoses and harnesses and have tried spritzing the vacuum lines with WD40 in hopes of noting an idle change. No such luck, no vacuum leaks detected. I may try again with propane to check for vacuum disturbances. I do not have access to or possession of a smoke machine.

I think that this pretty much covers the history of the car. If there is any other information that you may feel useful please let me know and I will respond as quickly as I can.

Stick with seeking out the Post 2010 Dell Precision Work Station Laptops with nVidia Cards there...Trust me...with some regular searches...every once in a while ...Seriously Affordable Bargains with these Dell Boxes arise... In the mean time...Regarding what you have covered above... I think you have provided enough Clues that might reveal the source of this problem... but it requires a bit more technical background for this explanation:

(1) The Black Carbon Soot Build Up in the Exhaust System arises because whatever portions of the combination of Carbon that is the residue of Combustion NOT being converted to Carbon Dioxide simply piles up inside of the Engine Cylinders, Piston Tops, Trapping Upper Compression Rings and cascading on down and through the entire Exhaust System as Solid Waste because the Engine Internal Operating Temperatures Do NOT rise to become hot enough for Carbon Soot...to BURN as Excess Fuel AND Motor Oil as per Long-Chain Hydro-Carbon Molecules:

(2) All Motor Oils (including *Synthetic* brands) leave an enormous amount of Carbon Solids behind if they find themselves being accidentally ingested and mixed with the Fuel and Air during the 720 Degrees of the Four Stroke Engine Cycle. Universally... If enough additional Carbon Based Fuel and Oil makes its way through your Turbo-Charger and then down onto the CAT cans...it will perform an action that is called, "Poisoning The CAT". Its abundance and collection in and amongst the Ceramic (Rare Earth Metal Impregnated) Honeycomb Blocks will elevate the temperatures to an excessive degree ...and ruin it completely.

(3) Certain Mechanical Conditions can arise to cause the Motor Oil to be ingested in excess into the Combustion Stream. These include: Gas-Gum Trapped Upper Piston "LOW TENSION" Compression Rings that invite Excessive Blow By to bypass Ring Oil Slick Controls, enter the Crankcase-Oil Pan, mixing with Motor Oil, Lowering its Lubricity and thus, allowing the Fuel Contaminated Oil to By-Pass the Rings and get Burned in-cylinder during the Compression and Power Strokes. The other uncommon source for the Post-In-Cylinder Combustion presence of Motor Oil are Leaking Turbo-Charger Bearing Seals allowing the Oil to "Sneak" into the Exhaust Stream and get Burned once the Post-In-Cylinder Oil reaches the CAT Can.

(4) Carbon-Busting Treatment: For most Carbon Build Up In-Cylinder Treatments... the ONLY truly effective method for Dissolving all of that Black Carbon "MUNG" from around Low Tension Compression Rings, Piston Tops and Valve Seats inside of Modern Engines is through the use of of ACDelco TEC (Top Engine Cleaner). This is done by pulling out the Spark Plugs and filling the Cylinders with this Fluid for Three Hours and then "Turkey Basting" out the Black Goo afterwards. The Process will FREE the Trapped Upper Compression Rings enough to reduce Oil By-Pass from the Lower End entering the Cylinders. If you pull your Oil Dip Stick and can smell a Heavy Fuel Scent... the ACDelco TEC Treatment might be the best place to start. Hi again. Although a bumbling neophyte with my new OBD scanner, I tried to take some screen shots of monitored sensors. There are two sets of four, one at 5 seconds of recording and the other at 48 seconds. There is also a link to a .pdf file on the Ediag server. The lion icon is used by the browser BRAVE. WOW, lots of 411 to digest and understand. First of all, thank you for your leads to potentially upgrade to a more GPT4ALL friendly PC. I will pursue this through Ebay although I must confess that I am hesitant to shop there due to the abhorrent shipping charges that accompany most "deals".

I am always up for a challenge. I will pick up some TEC from our local GM dealer. It will take me a couple of days to get my hands on a compression tester as I sold mine years ago. I DO have a couple of long ago retired mechanics in my circle of friends and acquaintances. I will reach out to them and see if a compression tester is available.. I have to set this up so that I can complete multiple tasks while I have the intercooler and what-not stripped off of the top of the motor.

I will keep you posted on the work done and the results of tests and findings. I am truly grateful and appreciative of your help in trying to figure this out. If all else fails I will have to park the Mazda and let my wife use the Envoy until I have enough $$$$ to take the car to a dealer. Local labour rates range from $160.00 to $200.00 per hour. (we are not poor, just living on our pension income).
