Mini h1's are the only ones that the mini gatlings will fit on.
Yea but there are off brand ones that I would guess would work as well. :raspberry:

Those in the know...is it better to use OEM headlights for a retrofit or go with aftermarket? There's two TB's at my local junkyard that I have to go to on Sunday.

Preference. The oem ones you have to cut and reseal if I recall correctly they are all like this, perma-sealed. Some after market ones are sealed with butyl rubber and you can heat them at a low temperature in an oven and simply pry them open. Once there there really isn't any difference unless the aftermarket ones are really cheap, in which case the adjusters may fall off the bowl with the added weight and cause issues. I went with the aftermarket ones since it seemed a bit easier. All depends on how much work you want to do though. [emoji106]

Never posted any pics after the meet. This was a budget retro.

$30 for generic mini h1's with mini gattling shrouds from TRS' s Black Friday sale.

$20 for h1 hid bulbs (already had the ballasts)

$7 black paint for bezels.

=$57 retrofit

Last night my passenger side ballast wouldn't fire, it was around 15 degrees, cycled the switch 3 times and it went. I'm going to have to check for a voltage drop or something, I mean I turned them on for a little before I started the truck to help melt the ice on the headlights and that's how I noticed. I'm going to contact the retro fit source but another issue I noticed was that it was dimmer than the drivers side. We'll see.

Running a relay harness? I could see some voltage drop on factory wiring but it should be minimal with a relay harness.

Yea, I discussed this here or somewhere a month or so ago but the issue went away, I'm thinking if it's the ground that could be a problem, right now it's on the cross brace on the radiator, I'll maybe switch it to the body itself and go from there.

I did on the drivers side, I just couldn't make it reach on the passenger side.

Looks great! Has anyone done a Rainier projector mod out there? Want to do projector/HID on mine.
Doubt anyone has put projectors in one...at least I've never seen it. You should be able to fit a decent projector in there though by the looks of the headlight. Here's a pic where someone went the plug and play route

Do what most of us do and buy a spare aftermarket set of headlights. One, you can take your time on the retro since you still have headlights to use. Two, aftermarket headlights are not permasealed. Permasealed headlights have to be cut open with a dremel. Most aftermarket headlights are sealed with butyl which can be baked open in an oven at around 225°F for 10-15 min.

Never seen those lights in person, but it looks like they would take an FX-R projector. FX-R fots well in my TB headlights.

Probably attempt it when I get new lights. Need them anyway. Mine are all sandblasted...don't think there are any aftermarket light for the Rainier though.. No one makes a damn thing for it aftermarket lol

Would've thought the envoy headlights would cost more as well. Been eyeing the halos from the trs. [emoji13]
