I know your joking .But I had to quit painting because of the ''Isocyanates'' in the paint. The last 3 car's I painted made my stomach blow up like a balloon . And I love to paint . That was 8 years ago. Damn Isocyanates. Now that's a ''revolting development''.

Oh, I believe it! Everytime I walk through the paint shop, I shake my head in disbelief because they paint with charcoal respirators only. And half the time when they cut stuff in or prime, they're not wearing a respirator at ALL! I can't fathom what they're thinking by doing this??
I can't wait to get out of this business. I finally got word that I'm being considered for employment with the FAA, so hopefully I can be out by the end of the year.

The RX330 back from paint...
And my latest joy of a project.....this thing is already proving to be a real mother f'er to work on.
The passenger side rear frame rail will likely need to be replaced, which means the motor needs to come out. I would do it, but I can't come up with a way to by using the equipment available! I'm not sure how to get the body up high enough to drop the motor out the bottom. And, all of our lifts take up all the space underneath the car.
Pimp shit for sure though! 305/30's!!

I can actually answer that...saw it last Saturday when we did my shocks.
Rear end and passengers side got chewed up, don't know how but I'd say it was some sort of rear end accident...could also have been operator error.
What's the go with the Audi now?

I think it got crunched on the passenger side of the rear bumper, and shoved the rear end over. It's got some damage on the front of the passenger side quarter panel lip though, and a scratch on the rear rim on that side too, so I don't know what kind of scenario it was in?

eek so they're going to try and get it refinished. Would've been AWESOME to take the old one home as a hose reel in the garage!And the Audi just had some bumper and fender damage on the driver side there. Also got a new headlight. There's really nothing wrong with the old one though, so I'm thinking about throwing it up on eBay and see if I can get some money for it! It's over $800 new, so I imagine someone out there would JUMP at the chance to get one at a lower price, but I don't know how many people out there are looking for a left headlight for a car like that? I mean, it's no Civic...haha

I wanna see how the Porsche comes out. I have seen one of the funky lifts Porsche uses to remove the engine from the Cayman/Boxster. Its probably the same for the 911. Its a lift with a little lift built into the middle of it. It was pretty cool to see the car about 6 feet up and the engine being lowered out of it. It only took the two guys doing it about an hour to get the engine out.

See...NOT even worth it for me to mess with. A Cobalt or VW....sure, not a 911. hahaha
The adjuster was out today on it, looks like it's getting the full, RIGHT, treatment. Going to ship the car over to the local Porsche dealer to have them yank the drivetrain, then back to me for repairs, then back down there. Sectioning in a new frame rail, and replacing the rear body panel.
And I guess the owner is being a REAL DICK too. He's suing the insurance company for the diminished value of his car. HAHAHA I guess I can see his point though. He gets hit in this expensive ass exotic car, and now it has to be gutted and repaired from a major collision. It's not HIS fault that he got hit, so it's not really fair for his car to be worth less now. Seems silly, but I'd be pissed too if I was in this situation with a car that expensive. I guess it's happened before too...a M5 owner who had his car in our shop sued, and won, for diminished value.

You got that right. That was an "s", so it was most likely a $120,000+ car. They do lose value, but not that fast. I would be pissed if my $120,000 car was suddenly worth $80,000.
That thing has the panorama roof on it too.... thats a super expensive option.

Yes it does! It closes like shit though...hahaha I had to slam the hell out of it to get it to close! I'm sure he'll say it was from the accident though.
Another PITA that I just remembered about, was the battery being dead. I went to move it over to my stall, but couldn't pop the hood because of the dead battery. The hood switch is electrical, like a trunk popper on most cars. So, the procedure was....pop off the fuse cover on the lower driver side footwell, pull back a circuit breaker-like fuse, stick the positive cable from the jumper box on it, then the negative to the door check!! WTF???

Yup! Right out of the owners manual. Be very careful when the batteries are dead. The door opening mechanisms are all electrical. I am sure you noticed that when you open the door the window actually drops about an inch before the door opens (Corvettes do the same thing). When the battery is dead it can't drop, so be gentle opening and closing the doors. PLUS... if you open the door then power is removed, the window can't return to closed. So the doors need to be covered up to prevent anything from getting in the car. I have seen some door seals damaged because of these windows. Once the battery is charged up, their is a process to "reset" the windows so they work properly. As I recall, you roll the window all the way up, then hold the up button for like 5 seconds. I am pretty sure the roof has the same goofy process, but I never got to play with one. It may not have been closing right because of the loss of power. Either way, be SUPER careful with the windows. That roof is probably $7500 worth of glass....... just cuz it says Porsche.
We should give it all up and drive old VW's.

I guess after all the information we provided him, the adjuster STILL left the shop not fully believing the car needs a new frame rail??? He was going to go down to the local Porsche dealer and compare a non-damaged one. Then the owner comes in earlier this week, and decides HE DOESN'T EVEN WANT A NEW FRAME RAIL?!?!?!?! His problem is, he doesn't want his drivetrain removed and installed, let alone trust anyone to do the work. (he specifically doesn't like the local dealer) He says if he ever goes to sell the car, nobody will want to buy it if they knew the motor was out like that.
Um....asshole, carfax is going to show the vehicle has been in a moderate/heavy collision.....do you really think anyone will pay tens of thousands of dollars for an exotic car that's been in a collision like this?! Never mind the fact that he's leaving a damaged frame rail on the car, so now the structure is compromised. What a fucking idiot....
So now, all they're having me replace is the rear body panel. There's only ONE in the country, and we're supposed to get it early next week. I DID start it up and move it around with open headers though....that was a fun time!! hahaha
Otherwise...just going to town on the VW. Damn Germans and their laser welds....

JosueLT - It's time like the what you are facing with that 911 owner that I don't envy your job. On a better note looks like you are really tearing into that VW. Keep up the good work and Good Luck With That A-whole with the 911.

Although I'm not sure if the owner would appreciate you guys revving it up like that at the end... though your camera was so overwhelmed that it really may not have been much of a rev, just the camera mic losing it after 2k RPM lol.
