Just a thought - we have a LOT of abbreviations that are commonly used... SWB, CAI, DRL... Not all of us have a clue what some of these actually mean. Perhaps some kind of dictionary could be created and dropped under the quick-links at the top of the page (or even start an information heading, since I assume eventually a copy of all the service manuals, etc, will be available here)?

As it happens we are working on something to help with that. Hover over these letters, and you should see how it works. OS

Wow ghost that is so much better, very convenient GMTnation just gets better everyday

We are trying, its just going to take time to get it all in.:cool:

Haha I just came back here to say that I had just noticed that very feature on certain terms. Very cool idea, certainly a lot better than just having a dictionary to look up terms. Would this be a good place to start listing out abbreviations that should be added when you get time? Because I've been reading about DRL-killers for the past year, and I'm really dying to know what the heck a DRL is! :biggrin:

TB = Throttle Body (or TrailBlazer...)

B+ is only underlining the B. Personally I wouldn't bother with the B+ and 12V, but that's just my :twocents:

I can't explain the underline problem. These abbreviations will help the guys doing electronic installs. Can't hurt to leave them.:cool:

Right, I got it. I just can't explain it. Its entered correctly, it must just not recognize the "+" symbol. :cool:

Thanks ghoster, this is a pretty slick feature Ive gotta say. Means we wont have to explain the common abbreviations to the noobs all the time! :D

Very neat! Here are some more to add:

CPAS: Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid
efan= Electric Fan
HID= High Intensity Discharge (headlights)

DTC - diagnostic trouble code
DLC - data link connector
IGN - ignition
ACC - accessory

The last three I use in remote start discussions.

No rest for the weary!

All have been added up to this point.:cool:

Say what? You'll still have to explain to each one what it means to "hover the cursor".:rolleyes:

:laugh:
I am gong to put that in the FAQ list we are working on!:biggrin:

How about non technical terms, there are some standard abbreviations that are used that I have had to look up before.

FYI = For your information
YMMV = Your mileage may vary
FWIW = For what it's worth
