The only towing thread is for the GMT360/370/305 platform, so I figured I'd start one for the other platforms on this site.

I'll start:
My neighbor's 24' Peterbilt 337 was having an especially rough time with the subzero temps we had a week ago.

As he was pulling out of the driveway to start his route one morning, the engine cut out and the brakes locked up.
He manually filled the truck's air tanks so the brakes would release, but the engine still wouldn't run.

Finally we took straps and hooked up the 38,000lb truck to two Silverados- one powered by a 6.6L Duramax, the other a Vortec 6100- and pulled it up the hill.
Both trucks pulled 19,000lbs a piece while only being rated to pull 13,000lbs from the hitch. They pulled a combined 12,000lbs more than they should on a pretty hefty slope.
"Like a Rock".

Use to have horses. Had to get 15 tons of hay each year and I wanted to do it in as few trips as possible.

2005 Silverado 3500 SRW CCLB with 8.1 engine and 5 speed Allison. I'd cross the scales fully loaded with hay at 23,000 lbs. To get the hay home I had to climb a 12% grade for 8 miles. Narrow road with a bunch of sharp curves too so can't go past 25mph. The beast never hesitated or overheated one bit.
