Looking at the harmonic balancer,,,does the crank run clock-wise or counter clock-wise. (this feels like a stupid question.)

this feels like a stupid question.
And there is a reason for that 😂

Look at your fan blades. Which way do they turn to pull air through the radiator from front to back? Establish that and follow the belt around.

Or in other words...without looking...I don't know!!

Just watched a video of guys hand cranking a Model-T. It looked like clockwise at the snout.

The simplest explanation to determine the Direction of Crankshaft Rotation for ALL GM vehicles is to:

Follow "The Right Hand Rule":

Using your Right Hand... Make a Fist and set it down on the Cross Member above the Radiator...

Then Extend Your Thumb Straight Out... In Line with the Driveshaft...

The Curvature of your Fingers shows "The Direction of Crankshaft Rotation"... It is CLOCKWISE...

The Position of your Thumb Points in the Direction that the Engine Torque Travels...

Done.

I suggest replacing the water pump and possibly the fan since you're going to have to remove them to get to the harmonic balancer.

I was talking about that big pulley on the front of the crank. Maybe it's not the harmonic balancer. Wouldn't be the first time I was totally wrong...

The balancer and the crank pulley are the same piece.
