Trailer running lights?

I thought I had a problem with a connection between my trailers and the round connector that fits into my trailer electrical plug but I tried the trailer on my dads silverado this morning and everything works fine. When pluged into my TB, I get signals, brake lights, and 4 way flashers. I don't get the running lights tho. I haven't climbed under to check for corrosion on the TB's plug yet but I was hoping that some one could tell me which pin on the TB is gonna be for the trailer running lights? Gotta break out the multi meter and try to figure this out.

Thanks in advance

The pinout of the trailer connector is an industry-standard 7-pin. Easy to locate pictures of it by searching for "Bargman trailer connector".

But I agree it's almost always the secret fuse.

The trailer lights (running, brake, AND turn signals) all have separate fuses for the trailer circuit so the truck's lights won't be affected by damaged trailer wiring. That happens so often I can't keep track.

I found serious corrosion on the ground connector in the assembly on the vehicle, had to do a little disassembly but it was pretty painless. No cutting of wires required, I was able to clean and reassemble. Clearly the ground isn't your issue, but one of the other connections could be.

I kept having corrosion problems with my vehicle recepticle due to michigan winters. I took it apart and put bulb grease on all the internal connections. Haven't had a problem for 3 years now.

Check the running light Fuse under the back seat. #42

checked the fuse and sure enough, blown! don't have any fuses to replace with yet but I'm hoping that theres not a short somewhere that'll just blow the replacement.

thanks again to all who responded.

Don't despair at not locating the short that blew the fuse. It WILL come back, on a dark and stormy night when you're least prepared to troubleshoot it.

And that good sir, is how I like to live. Dangerously! lol
