Can't believe it's been over a month since the last one. Damn we were slacking! Well today, got to meet some new faces, bmcutright (Brandon) and chatham (Bill) came out, both good guys. Today was suspension day for Brandon. Ball joints and bushings were the main order of the day. Jimmy and Brandon were already hard at work by the time i got there.
Piled everybody into my EXT and hit a local sports bar for a quick lunch break. After everything was pressed back in place, time to reassemble.
Not pictured here, I donated my amber mirror lenses to Brandon. Some TXBlazer LED inserts may be in his near future
Jimmy had to step out due to some plans, so it was time to tinker with my truck. Since I was doing a lot of the work, the usual paparazzi duties suffered, but you guys can take my word for it. I wanted to install a kill switch for the auto feature of my power folding mirrors. Just for the few cases where I need to turn the ignition on and off repeatedly, that can be disabled. Pulled the 2nd row driver's side seat and center console out, and ran a pair of wires from the rear fuse block, under the carpet to the console area with David's help.
After some trial and error, got an old PC case power switch installed inside the console, wires in line with the auto trigger from the rear fuse block, with some successful tests. Did some additional testing of the mirrors, as they move quite slowly with the engine not running. They are only seeing 6V when activated, so I'll have to re-evaluate the power source I'm using. I don't know what it's for, some random harness I found that was always hot regardless of the ignition state.
Angel made a late appearance and hung out for a bit. Then we poked around for a ground that I thought could be the source of my parking light issue, but once we got to it, it was tight as could be, so back to the wiring assumption. Maybe tomorrow I'll yank my battery, try to isolate that wire and see if there's a damaged section I can repair. At any rate, before shutting things down, Angel and I hit up the Winghouse for some grub and eye candy.
