Awesome! Wonder if you will need the driveshaft shortened like us lifted guys. Seems the non-lifted one I remember may not have. I think the adaptor ujoint is a 446 fyi

Got me a cheap, used 300W PC power supply off Ebay for $11 that came in the mail yesterday. Going to try building a benchtop HID ballast power source, so I can leave my battery jump box in the truck where it belongs. Initial test was good. The ballast flickered for about 5 seconds on the first ignition, but then was fine. Several refires after that were flawless, so I assume some of the capacitors had been discharged.

Going to desolder a bunch of the unnecessary wires from the circuit board, and short the green wire to ground so the switch on the back will be the master. I'm thinking of getting a speaker box terminals like this, so I can plug and play the 9006 pigtails when I need to use it. :undecided:

This is hilarious man I have 1000w PSU that I use to test 12 and 5 volt stuff lol. I actually just odered a batch of blank boards so I can build a pot controlled voltage regulator on one of the lines. so I should be able to have 0-12 volts for testing led's and other smaller things. Man that is too funny you had the same idea

So you can use that to arrange LEDs?

yes you can, that is the best thing to use for that, you can trim or cut them to the size you want. and then solder everything together. these are fairly small though, you may need to see what size you need and order appropriately.

How does one go about powering it? Is there a specific way?

It depends on the application. If you are working on the tail lights you will need to ditch the sockets and solder into the wires or board for power. You will need to calculate your ma load depending on how many LEDs you use per board and use that with your nominal voltage and led voltage to reduce the power so that you can maximize light output without blowing the LEDs. If you have never done any of this you need to do a lot of homework. You can do it though its the only way to learn.

Universal Joint

Unless the driveshaft is too long with the SS's bigger size. I needed 1.5 inches removed even with extended control arms.

I guess I'll find out for sure this weekend. I found 3 people that said the did the same swap and only needed the UV joint to adapt it. I figured with 3 people saying the same thing my odds were good lol

May just be us lifted guys then but everyone lifted has had to shorten the shaft. I squeezed mine in at first but it would push the TC forward.

I have a stock aluminum swb driveshaft and mine has a steel. Both stock side by side had inch difference even though both swb I6 4x4. Not sure which was shorter but I used the thinner steel to keep it up off any rocks I play in. Might be something to keep in mind.

I can get to the aluminum one for measurements if it is of interest to anyone.

Plus 2wd may be different w longer driveshaft.

I'm jealous you'll be doing this mod lol, wish I could afford to. Be sure to document it well for your build thread and hopefully you don't have any hiccups, but it seems the odds are in your favor man.

Kyle; so they have a steel version of our drive shafts? Now is that aftermarket, specifically made for offroad builds?

My 06 had steel stock. I think my aluminum was an 04.

Oh okay, so they started using steel for later years? Wonder if it depended on if the rig was RWD or 4WD too, hmm

My 02 4x4 has an aluminum shaft. I believe earlier ones were all aluminum and later were steel. Or something like that.

And our headlights do already have lines etched on the insides of the lenses, so lining everything up and being even on both sides would be a breeze. If I don't like em I could always peel it off, using Plastidip. Been a while since I dipped anything.
