App lets you shame people's poor parking jobs - Sympatico.ca Autos

A new app from Russia aims to shame poor parallel parkers by making their pitiful parking public.

The "Parking Douche" app for Android lets users photograph and upload examples of terrible parking jobs they spot on the street to a database of bad parkers.

The aim is shame these poor parkers into better behaviour by highlighting their licence plate numbers and posting them, along with a pic of their parking job, on the app, Facebook, or an online newspaper, reports Mashable.

The app, launched in Russia back in May, uses IP address information to figure out where the photo was taken, so that other users will be more likely to see pics of their neighbours.

Photos are uploaded in real-time as banner ads on a local online Russian newspaper, according to Mashable, for maximum exposure.

The concept of shaming bad drivers via the Internet is nothing new. U.S.-based youparklikeanasshole.com encouraged users to leave notes calling out people's poor parking.

Please, somebody, make one for here! Public shaming. Nothing like it. I downloaded the Russian one and it looks cool and seems to allow to search for previous entries or even registration of the plate. You take a pic of the car and of the plate so it must use some sort of character recognition to do this.

I could just follow my wife around all day with this app.

Is it on purpose or just because she might be "follicle pigmentation deficient"?

If you did, and she knew it, it would be the last view of her tail you'd ever see. :rotfl:

I think it's pretty obvious. She's a woman, there aren't too many women around that can park.

When she drives, we always park really far away from where we're going because all the spots are "too small".

Parallel parking? Forget about it, never gonna happen.

When she does get her car perfectly centered between the lines every once in a while, she throws a celebration about her accomplishment.

I'm pretty good at parking...

I just can't parallel park around other cars, back up into a parking spot(unless it's off a cliff), or park to the left. I am right hand dominant therefor that makes Phantom right tire dominant too! I need to finesse my skills with the truck, but give me a car and I'm good to go. But since removing the moulding I usually park about a mile away from the closest car anyways and don't need to worry about it.
